Which spelling do you prefer?

I know a girl called Rosey - she was named after her grandmother who's full name was Rosemary, but nn Rosey. Her mother wanted to keep her mother's spelling.

I quite like Rosy, I've seen it a few times before in older books. I'm sure Louisa May Alcott had a heroine called Rose who was sometimes called Rosy.

Rosie is much nicer looking.

The original name is Rose (or Rosa in some countries) so Rosy and Rosie are both diminutive variants.

I know several adults called Rosie, it's fine for adults. But Rosy is daft.

She says Rosy is the traditional spelling.

Tell your friend she's condemning her child to a lifetime of people misspelling her name! I worked with someone for years with that name and I could never remember if she was Rosie or Rosy and she used to get cross when people got it wrong. She had a surname which could end 'ie' or 'y' just to confuse things.

My first name can be spelled various ways too and people are always getting it wrong. I've made sure my kids have names with one spelling!

Rosie. We know 2 (both preschoolers) who have it as their full name and I think it's lovely. Never seen Rosy as a name. I think it'd be constantly misspelled.

Oh, I think she's set on Rosie/Rosy as the full name. It's a question of which is nicer.
