Can I have a Daniel Stephen and Stephanie Danielle?

It's a bit weird.

And Daniel and Stephanie will know about the similarity in their names, even if no one outside the family knows both siblings middle names.

I would say either Daniel Stephen and Stephanie or Daniel Stephen and Danielle. I wouldn't use both Stephanie and Danielle (though I love both names, and Daniel) as then you've basically used the same name for both children.

Daniel and Stephanie make for a lovely sibset though !!

Yes if you want to. Why not? Unless they're going to be hyphenated and used in full Walton's stylee which might be a bit of a giveaway no-one else is even going to know.

Why would you want to?

Are you naming the DCs after loved ones? Or do you just really like these specific names?

It reminds me of a family I went to school with where the three siblings were called Hayley, Leah and Lee. Also Jane and her sister Jean. Unless there is a very good reason for reusing the same name(s), it does appear to show a lack of imagination.

My first thought is odd.

Then I remembered that my brother an I have male and female versions of the same name Grin it's not that our parents lacked imagination I think they genuinely didn't realise until it was too late. Almost no one has ever commented on it.

To be fair our names are not very similar but are listed in baby name books as versions of the same name.

Unless you're going to use their middle names all the time it'll be fine. Most people won't know what Daniel and Stephanie's middle names are so won't make the connection.

Yes. It looks a bit ridiculous when they are both written down in full but 1. that is hardly ever going to happen and 2. does it really matter? Both names are very normal and for most of their lives they will be adults and lead reasonably separate lives. If you really like those names I'd go for it.

Well you could and most people wouldn't even be aware of it but it is a little... lacking in imagination.

They are nice names. I've seen considerably worse suggestions on MN! Smile

I'm afraid I agree - it would look as if you had given no thought whatsoever to the second child's name. Or as if you were trying to be 'clever' or 'wacky'.

And I suspect that the children would grow up hating it - they could feel as if you think they are just reflections of each other, rather than being individuals in their own right.

Please don't do this.
