It's a name I read in a book years ago but always liked. For a girl. Just me?

agadoo!!! Thank you! The book I read it in was a book called 'The Third Witch' written from a different viewpoint regarding Shakespeare's Macbeth. Very Scottish! That's how I imagined it being pronounced properly but knew I'd make the end more of a 'ah'.

Raines I'm not that much of a King Arthur legend fan, my GM maiden name was Morgan so I've always had Morgana in my head to potentially honour her. I do like a lot of legendary type names though.

Morgana the Fay is the witch from Arthurian legend, hence my earlier comment.

I like rowenna or Rowena and roah would work well as a nickname for either

I LOVE Roah! I've never heard it before. It's beautiful.

I don't know if it makes a difference, but if I pronounce it like I would 'Noah' in my (Scottish, regional) accent, then it doesn't sound like 'rower' - it's more of an 'ah' sound rather than 'ur' at the end.

I'm not too keen on Rhona, but Rowenna is pretty! If Roah is a bit dismal, another of my choices is Morgana, any better?

Rowenna instead of Rowena would avoid that 'wee' sound. Lovely name, too.

I am "blessed" with an unusual name, so that factors into my view (i.e. it's a mahousive pain in the butt).

Rowena is on my list, just not keen on the 'wee' sound in the middle. Thought this was just quite sweet and simple. Oh well, back to the drawing board!

It's pronounced like 'Rower' to rhyme with Noah. I just thought it was quite unusual but still nicely simple.

True. I guess by the same token Rilliam sounds nothing like William, Remma sounds nothing like Emma, and Ramuel sounds nothing like Samuel.

I advise you against trying your hand at poetry.
