Roah?

It's a name I read in a book years ago but always liked. For a girl. Just me?

alongside octavia butterfly and akita, roah looks positively dull!

tbh i don't hate roah, like i'm way to 'top 20' to use it myself, but i'd say ur firmly rocking the 'out there' look, and i thought it was pretty but unusual.
however she would get a lot of noah and roar i reckon. it's a life time of 'it's roah, like noah with an r'
it's not like octavia butterfly or akita have that issue...

Sorry, it sounds like Noah and Rowan bought a house together and named the house "Roah"

Yep, my 4 year old's name is Butterfly. Technically her middle name, first name Octavia, but she's been Butterfly from birth due to her older sister choosing it and refusing to call her anything else. She now also refuses to call herself anything but Butterfly. Suits her perfectly, wish I'd just called her it in the first place.

My eldest's middle name is Akita after the breed of dog actually, my favourite breed, but thought it made a pretty name, she also loves it.

I know farfalla is Italian for butterfly but I imagine years of explaining to people it is not a type of pasta Grin

Rowenna is the best of the bunch suggested so far for me.

Papillon would make me think of the breed of dog.

Tell me you haven't inflicted a child with the name Butterfly? My mate's middle name is Rainbow because of hippy parents. She hates it.

I did also find it on a naming website, but for a boy. I still like it and would still use it if I thought it suited. If I can get away with having a 'Butterfly', I'm sure I could get away with this!

I'll keep looking and see if anything else grabs me, problem is I really like names that either no one has heard of or that no one else would often think to use!

No, it's dreadful.

It would make me think you were struggling with the spelling of Roar or Noah. Roah is not a name.

Rowan, Rhona or Ria are perfectly acceptable though.

Yvaine I've had all CS so no idea what I might sound like but that did make me laugh. Grin

In the almost 5 years since I've had a DC I must have lost my, albeit very odd and unusual, taste in baby names! I genuinely thought it was quite pretty! DP quite likes it too, perhaps I'll keep it as 'that name in that book I always loved and never actually got round to using but I'll remember it every year or so when I reread the book and start appreciating it again!' Seems a plan!

It is a nice name I think, but I'm afraid scooby do was my first thought too.
What about Morvern? Or Morwenna?
Rowenna is a lovely name, and rowan trees are reputed to have magical properties if that helps? A very myffic tree :)
