Kajsa, Katja or Katrin

Scandinavian/Dutch family, naming a currently entirely imaginary DC3.

I love the three names above, which works best in England? I think Katrin is my favourite ..

DC1 and 2 have traditional names in our country, a bit unusual here but work well in English, so that's what I am aiming for..

Ah wyf that may be where people are getting it from. (Non-TV watcher here and I've never seen strictly!)

KlingybunFistelvase · 11/11/2016 15:16

Ugh Katrin not Katrina!

KlingybunFistelvase · 11/11/2016 15:16

Katrina is my favourite too.

TooTweeOrNotTooTwee · 11/11/2016 09:54

I love Kajsa. And the name makes me think of the Wonderful Adventures of Nils :)
I personally wouldn't have pronounciation issues (the mother of a very close friend of mine is Swedish and I know quite a few people from various Scandinavian countries, so maybe that's why.)

Katja is lovely as well. It's a very beautiful name imo :)

I really don't like Katrin.

Bountybarsyuk · 10/11/2016 18:35

I love so many of these names, Katja/Katya or Katrin are lovely.

Kajsa is unusual and I guess people would learn how to say it, but as others have said, the 'Kaiser' sound of it puts me off.

Anja? Anneka? Kristjana?

TheLegendOfBeans · 10/11/2016 18:15

Hello! May i ask what your other two children are called? We will inevitably have DC2 in the Netherlands - we move there in June and are presently TTC. It would be nice to call our second child a Dutch-friendly English name; Juliana if it's a girl we think but canvassing for ideas!

Not to completely hijack your thread I think Katrin is a lovely name x

Twoevils · 10/11/2016 18:14

Katrin is also a Welsh name, so probably is easiest in UK. Though I like Katja too.

Magda and Esther also nice.

WyfOfBathe · 10/11/2016 18:12

I love Katrin. It's a really nice-sounding name and easily pronouncable in English.

I also like Katja, but I would have said it as kat-ee-yah (coz it's how they announce Katya on Strictly Blush).

captaincunt · 10/11/2016 18:08

I love kajsa although it rhymes with bajsa.

KoolAde · 10/11/2016 17:59

Katja is lovely

SorenaJ · 10/11/2016 10:37

Kajsa is lovely! but then again I'm Scandinavian.

RedStripeLassie · 08/11/2016 17:33

I know a lovely Katja so I'd go with that.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 08/11/2016 17:30

Danica is beautiful.

TooTweeOrNotTooTwee · 08/11/2016 17:12

I like Renske (it's very similar to my own name) but worried it's a bit too Dutch!! I ended up anglicising my own name..

I think Katya is the nicest.

MaryWortleyMontagu · 08/11/2016 16:31

Madame KAT-ya or KAHT-ya.

Maltropp · 08/11/2016 16:17

Katja... Lovely name and what I planned (although wth a y) for my DD... Had to rethink when I ended up with 3 x DS and there were no boys names I liked.

Frankiefarr · 08/11/2016 16:14

Sorry predictive text meant Katja

Frankiefarr · 08/11/2016 16:14

Love Kayla. My best friend is a Katrin too.

My Dutch friend called their girls Renske and Alexa

I like Danica as a Scandi name

MadameSilva · 08/11/2016 12:52

Mary how do you pronounce Katya then? I've met two Katya in my lifetime, one Russian descent. They both pronounced it as Kat-ee-yah.

swimmerforlife · 08/11/2016 10:57

Katja.

Foxtato · 08/11/2016 09:50

Katja is my favourite

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 08/11/2016 09:19

Katrin is my favourite, then Katja, both lovely OP.

TooTweeOrNotTooTwee · 08/11/2016 09:05

Thank you all! Glad Katrin and Katja likely to be ok!
