Love or hate it?

Sorry, Gretel

Pipilangstrumpf · 05/11/2016 22:19

Gertrud nickname Gertie isn't nice imo. And Greek or Gretchen is awful!

I do like Tatiana though!

albertcampionscat · 05/11/2016 22:03

Greta is rather nice though,

So bad

lljkk · 05/11/2016 19:32

it's the hormones, OP. Just slap yourself a few times & find something nicer.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 05/11/2016 19:18

Flirty Gertie, where I come from 😄

AmyInTheBoonies · 05/11/2016 19:17

I think it's pretty awful. What about Greta?

SendARavenToRiverRun · 05/11/2016 19:12

It's a common Yorkshire term ( affectionate) for the missus 'Orr old Gert'. And yeah, dirty Gerty etc. Sorry!
Gretchen is nice though Smile

neonrainbow · 05/11/2016 19:01

Is horrendous. Truly awful, as is Gretchen.

SuperFlyHigh · 05/11/2016 18:57

Or Gretchen for Gertie

SuperFlyHigh · 05/11/2016 18:56

Gertrude is better as have more options eg Gertie and Trudy. If she gets teased at school for being Dirty Gertie she'll never forgive you!

ErnesttheBavarian · 05/11/2016 18:54

Oh and Geertje is a name in itself not an abbreviation if that matters.

ErnesttheBavarian · 05/11/2016 18:53

I work with a lovely woman called Geertje. Pronounced ger-tye.

I automatically think of dirty Gertie from number 30 with Gertie but not Geertje.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 05/11/2016 18:50

I like it!

Needs to be short for something but not Gertrude.

CPtart · 05/11/2016 18:49

Hate it. Nothing redeemable about it at all.

Frigs, Gretchen is beautiful, Gertie for short.

YonicProbe · 05/11/2016 18:37

Don't like it, sorry

Manumission · 05/11/2016 18:34

The playground rhyming possibilities are worrying.

SausageSoda · 05/11/2016 18:33

It's a nn for Gertrude which I don't like.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 05/11/2016 18:32

Its cute sounding but it just conjures up a crabby old lady to me. Plus it makes me think of the poem/rhyme
." Dirty Gertie Macintosh never ever got a wash.".

Monkeyface26 · 05/11/2016 18:17

If my sister or I were being stroppy as kids, DM would say 'stop being such a Shirty Gertie'

RiverTam · 05/11/2016 18:16

Dirty Gertie.

Little girl in ET.

Gertrude nn Trude or Trudy would be better, IMO.

OnceMoreIntoTheBleach · 05/11/2016 18:15

Sure the little girl in ET is called this?! Cute
