Really awful.

Oysterbabe · 13/11/2016 14:38

I think it's an ugly name too.

SpunkyMummy · 12/11/2016 18:10

I really love Gerta. Gertie is a nickname. And it should stay a nickname imo.

Terrifiedandregretful · 11/11/2016 18:20

It's very on trend. I think it's cute on a toddler but I would personally hate to be called it.

Foxtato · 08/11/2016 22:35

I don't like Gertie but the suggestion of Greta is nice.

What about Marnie?

gratesnakes · 08/11/2016 11:40

Would you change your name to Gertie, OP?

JinkxMonsoon · 08/11/2016 11:32

It's seriously ugly, both written down and to the ear. Don't do it.

MaryTheCanary · 08/11/2016 11:29

Dirty Gertie from Number Thirty.....

Just... no.

How about Greta?

hels18 · 08/11/2016 09:37

Sorry, it reminds me of when I kept guinea pigs and fed them Gertie Guinea pig food!

Overthinker2016 · 07/11/2016 22:09

I like it. Also Greta nice.

ViewBasket · 07/11/2016 21:59

I'm old enough to remember that Basil Brush was always cracking jokes about "Dirty Gertie at Number 30" so I'm afraid it's a no from me.

MartinaMartini · 07/11/2016 21:23

Hate!

Ankleswingers · 07/11/2016 19:52

It's awful. you seriously can't saddle a child with that for the rest of their life. Hideous name!

LovelyBranches · 07/11/2016 19:52

I am in my early 30s but it was the name my mother would call me if I was dawdling or not listening, either that or Fanny-Ann

septembersunshine · 07/11/2016 19:47

It sounds like something you might eat in yo sushi. I wouldn't.

Strawberry90 · 07/11/2016 01:47

Yes to Greta!
Also how about Henrietta then you could have nn ettie or Etta?

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 07/11/2016 01:38

To me this is one of the worst names ever. It sounds old and fat.
Sorry.

meganlousha · 06/11/2016 20:26

I love it. Gertie is Ben Affleck's daughter in this movie which has flew out of my mind! It is a risky name though x

Middleagedmumoftwo · 06/11/2016 15:27

We had a local prostitute called Gertie, who became known as "dirty Gertie"...so it would be a no from me 😐

LoveInTokyo · 06/11/2016 15:22

No to Gertie. Yes to Greta.

Pemba · 06/11/2016 05:04

Gertie is just not an attractive name IMO. Doesn't have a nice sound, and really old-fashioned. Gertie Guinea Pig food is a brand that comes to mind.

And Gertrude is actually worse. Pretty awful actually.

CinderellaFant · 05/11/2016 23:18

Gretchen is worse! Sounds like retching!

Graceflorrick · 05/11/2016 23:02

I love it. Beautiful.

Hippee · 05/11/2016 22:51

I know a lovely little Gertrude. It suits her. I actually regret not giving DD it as a middle name, as DH's great grandmother was a notable Gertrude.

EweAreHere · 05/11/2016 22:37

Oh no. Please no. Gertrude is a horrible name. People will assume it's short for Gertrude.
