Bear, Everest, Forrest or River?

Our little boy is nameless. We have to register him soon! I feel really sorry for him Grin poor little guy does need a name! We just can't pick (absolutely love them all!) which is your favourite???

Everest is at least an actual name, although a surname.

"Bear" is a word for a large, hairy gay man.

River is OK I guess. The only other River I've ever heard of died of a drug overdose on the pavement in front of the Viper Room.

Forrest is a nice enough name, although "Run Forrest run" could get old.

I love nature names and I think they are great although Everest is too closely linked to the mountain. The others are fine and as a teacher I've taught both a river and a Forrest. Not taught a Bear yet.
I don't think the connotations that are made here with River Phoenix and Forrest Gump are there for young people and certainly won't be in 2026 when the child will be close to secondary school. To be honest it's adults that have these hang ups not the kids.

Bear is tricky as it's also a verb - his cross to bear, I couldn't bear it, bear with me...

There are other names which mean "bear", Bern / Bernard / Bjorn, etc.

If you are worried about popularity there are a lot of little Bears around here. I tend to meet one a week.

River is nice but also quite popular and you'll get a lot of people asking if you copied Jamie Oliver as his was born so recently.

I love Forrest. It seems most like a real name and not a word. How many children are going to watch Forrest Gump. Its a dreadful film. If I had to think of an association I'd think Forrest Whitaker and I like him.

Love Everest but didn't know about Paw Patrol. Don't know if that will be around when you child is in school and I think it sound more masculine than feminine. Everett is similar.

My youngest goes by Bear (not even close to his actual name) so I do like that.

Not once has anyone even blinked when I've called out, "hurry up, Bear," when out and about.

I don't think any your choices would get a lot of odd looks nowadays.
