5 days old daughter - help us decide on her name

I had a little girl five days ago and am having a hard time deciding on her name.

We already have a boy and a girl (Liam and Katie) so it needs to be something that goes with that...

Current favourites are Nina or Josie, with other contenders Leah and Sadie.

She is a red head at the moment, and (if anything like other two will be strong willed).

What are people's preferences? Our surname is Bell if that makes a difference too?

tIA, sleep deprivation means making this decision feels crazy hard xx

Nina is my favourite but it's not really a name for a loud feisty redhead. Nina to me is elegant, dainty, feminine, has a touch of Russian glamour. If you see her having a big fun personality, then Josie is the best choice! Sadie also works well- it sounds a bit cheeky and fun. Leah is too much like Liam.

In end went for Nina Elizabeth, but with full name of Christina Elizabeth. Thanks for thought and advice everyone X

Thanks for all thoughts everyone. She's now 15 days old and hoping to come to a decision today!! Nina (with Christina as full name) is now frontrunner though thinking a bit about Josie again too... I really am stretching this decision out. Crazy!

Hah, this is so tricky. Interesting to hear of someone who was teased in playground for being called Nina.

Another idea I had was to call her Christina and then Nina for short. My oh's mum died a few years ago but she was a Christine so this would be partially in memory to her too..

It feels tough to make a decision. I am not sure about Josephine but do like Josie.

I agree with your mum I'm afraid! Nina is not pronounced nee-naw, I know, but the one & only Nina I knew as a child was teased in that way (by saying her name sounded like a police car - more nee-nar than nee-naw).

Of course, you may know 20 Nina's who have never experienced this. But the one I knew did, and that is what my mind jumps to. Also a distant elderly Aunt Nina, who used to pronounce it "niner" . I think I only met her once, and at a very young age, but it has always stuck in my mind as not being a very nice name!

That said, if you & DH love the name then that's all that matters. The opinions of either strangers on the internet, or your DM, are secondary at best.

I don't see the problem with Nina that your Mum does. I think it's a nice name.

Why not Josephine for the birth certificate but let DH use Nina as nickname for her....

When she's older she'll have so many options for shortening it if she wants...

So... Think we have almost made a decision, Nina Patricia Bell,

But then my mum said it made her think of nee naw and combined with bell doesn't work.

What do people reckon? She's 12 days now and would be nice to name her :-) xx

I wouldn't use Katie and Sadie together personally.
I'd go for Nina Patricia. Liam, Katie and Nina.

Congratulations. She's adorable. I love Leah (biased, much) but think it doesn't work so well as a first name because of Liam. Really like Nina a lot and that works well with Liam and Katie I think. It's not a name that you hear a lot but isn't too out there and spelling and pronunciation easy.

Just to throw a potential spanner in the works - what about Nadia? A combination of the two (sort of).
