Hello,

I love the name Patrick but not Paddy and Alex but not Alexander? Which of the above combinations do you prefer?

Sister is called Isla. Any other suggestions greatly received.

Many thanks 😊

Patrick Alexander is a wonderful name.

(There are already enough Xanders)

BarInSpace · 31/10/2016 14:08

Alistair could be shortened to Al, if you like it?

user1476527566 · 31/10/2016 11:53

Yes it would be Alex, but is it too popular / unisex? Alistair is nice but perhaps too many syllables so would be shortened to Ally which I'm not keen on. Patrick too Irish????

I know it's not an option, but Alistair Patrick .

Buntysoven · 31/10/2016 00:13

Patrick Alistair is a really handsome name

BarInSpace · 30/10/2016 23:43

Alistair Patrick, or Alexander Patrick.

raviolidreaming · 30/10/2016 21:25

Alex Patrick Smile

TheSteveMilliband · 30/10/2016 21:15

We went for Patrick as a middle name for exactly that reason (didn't like shortened versions- especially as someone from Ireland told me it can be shortened to podge) but actually unless you're in Ireland probably unlikely to be shortened anyway. I slightly regret not using it as a first name now, really suits ds. Love Alistair too (have one). Alex quite popular, but lovely, depends if that matters to you.

RiverTam · 30/10/2016 20:57

Patrick is a lovely name, though I hate all NNs for it.

Wolfiefan · 30/10/2016 20:53

Depends on initial too. You could have an APT or PAM

weekendninja · 30/10/2016 20:51

Alistair Patrick would be my favourite combination. Patrick Alistair second to that.

I really like all of the names.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 30/10/2016 20:44

Patrick Alexander
Patrick Zander

tattychicken · 30/10/2016 20:42

I would say Patrick Alexander...

BikeRunSki · 30/10/2016 20:41

I love Patrick (and Paddy). I also prefer Alastair to Alexander.

DaisyFranceLynch · 30/10/2016 20:40

I love both names (both were on our shortlist along with Alistair) but Patrick is a lot more unusual, if that's a consideration. I slightly regret not choosing it since the name we went with is very popular.

I'm not so keen on the nicknames but I'm not sure a nickname is inevitable - I've worked with a few and they all went by Patrick rather than Paddy or Pat.

Alexander Patrick

You could call him xander for short

TheFallenMadonna · 30/10/2016 20:32

Patrick. Or Alec instead of Alex.
