I like both Mabel and Ivy but I'm not sold on Lettuce.

There was a comic story called 'Lettice Leaf, the Greenest Girl in School' in the 1960s, OP. Perhaps that's what you are thinking of...

You shouldn't need telling not to call your child after a salad vegetable. Only one or two people on MN like it, and these are people that like names like Mabel and Ivy.

Angelica is quite a nice name, I also like Angelique, I even like Angela and know a lovely little girl called that.

88 special snowflake...? Well, of course the LO is special imo.

But I highly doubt the LO will be the one to cure cancer or something.
And even if your DS had been named Elizabeth... I'm pretty sure the bullies would have found an other way to bully her.

I honestly didn't think these names were that quirky, Judge.

But I do appreciate the comments :)!!

Angelica and Lettice are both food names, even with the variation on spelling (and names of characters in kids books) Frederick is nice. Not fussed on the others sorry.

Hope you find a fabulously quirky name but I wouldn't go for Lettice. It's a ridiculously hard name to live up to.

I agree with others' comments on the name Lettice, it's not going to be great to sound as if you aere named after salad.

I am baffled by some of the "no no never awful names all of them" commens tho - William and Fred? Awful?? eh? They are both fine tho I would go for Frederick rather than Frederik personally. Angelica is nice too :)

Mad middle names are fine IMO.

Much prefer your suggestions to those of your DH. Bertrand is right. Please don't give your dd the first name Lettice (though I agree it's lovely).

Bluebell Ottilie/Ottolie is lovely, or Ottilie Bluebell (nn Lottie-Bell?).

New Year 7 class. Teacher says "And what's your name?" Imagine what it would feel like to have to announce to 29 11 year olds you'be never met before that your name is Lettice.

And then think of another name for your daughter.

The name actually predates the use of the word lettuce.
I really don't like the name Laetitia. But thank you for the suggestion, Bog. :)

chatty I agree :) no, there isn't a really a good reason for that... I do have an ancestor called Frederik, so maybe that's why (said relative was actually German). But DH might want to spell it with a ck.
