Which of these two names do you prefer for a girl?

Baby is due in February. Going to wait until baby is here to officially decide which name if its a girl (a boy's name is 99% set) but just wondering if there was a clear favourite as I swing back and forth daily between the two girls names we like. Both sound great with the surname.

Which do you prefer?
Ffion or Nia

Ffion definitely. Nia sounds like knee-er, near and nyah-nyah (the sneering sound made by children.). It looks really negative and 'thin'. It is close to Mia which I don't like either.

soundsystem Yes we are in Wales. DP and his parents have Welsh names, do I thought it would be nice to carry that on.

I do love Nia but my reservations are that it would be confused with Mia, and comments about "near? Near what?"

If you're even going to visit France I'd go with Nia

I love Nia. Are you in Wales? Agree it might be confused with Mia elsewhere but that wouldn't put me off.

(I was always planning on using Nia if I had a girl, but DH wasn't keen, as in some of our relatives accents it sounds like "near")

why would Nia be pronounced Nye-ah, we do not say My-ah for Mia do we?

Nia would be mispronounced nye-ah and/or mistaken for Mia (which is a pet hate of mine because it means "mine").

Ffion would occasionally get misspelled but otherwise lovely.
