I know Buffy as a nickname for Elizabeth. It's well known, I thought.

OP, if you ignore the jokes related to the Buffy/Angel TV series, you've had some nice suggestions. I like Jonathan with nn of Jonty as it fits your "classic names" with interesting nicknames.

P.s. My daughter is Elizabeth too! Lovely name Smile

WaitroseCoffeeCostaCup · 27/10/2016 23:20

Penelope-Penny
Cassie
Florence-Flo/Florrie

Casper
Henry
Percy

Don't listen to nasty people on here, any name that's not yawn central gets slated. It's lovely to hear some different names Smile

BackforGood · 27/10/2016 23:20

I'd have assumed people realised that.

Why?

I can't believe you have posted that your dc are called Buffy and Teddy, then been shocked when someone suggested Spike. It's of the same...er... how shall we say ... genre.

If your dc are called Elizabeth and Edward, then why not say that, and people can suggest similar, traditional names. If you come on here with what you did though, people are then going to suggest similar names to what you have started with.

Can't understand why that makes you cross.

gallicgirl · 27/10/2016 23:17

I've NEVER heard Buffy as a nickname for anything. Or a real name.

OP, are you looking for a match with Elizabeth and Edward or a match with Buffy and Teddy?

Would Eleanor and Nell fit the bill?

GiddyGiddyGoat · 27/10/2016 23:16

You've had some good suggestions op. people aren't being horrid, they're just mucking about - I think you'd have got less jokey responses if you'd told us that Buffy and Teddy were nicknames not the names on their birth certificates.

SansaClegane · 27/10/2016 23:15

LilyRose - I do think though that for naming purposes, the 'go-by' names are less relevant than the actual names, as the given names are more telling of your naming style.
Plus the fact that Teddy can be short for all sorts of names, or none at all (i.e. Teddy might be the name on the birth certificate) and there's a big difference in naming style there.

My three all have very similar names (as in, the same style) but all go by nicknames, which a) don't go so well together and b) in one case is completely unrelated to the given name.

madgingermunchkin · 27/10/2016 23:15

I've never heard of Elizabeth shortened to Buffy. Liz/Lizzy/Eliza/Beth/Ellie yes, Buffy no.

And I always though Teddy was short for Theodore, Eddy short for Edward.

BigbyWolf · 27/10/2016 23:13

I was going to suggest Jonty. I know siblings called Jonty and Ted Smile

Costacoffeeplease · 27/10/2016 23:12

Sansa, they go by Buffy and Teddy though, I'd have assumed people realised that.

Why?

FATEdestiny · 27/10/2016 23:11

"I'd use buffy for real if I could"

I'd use Spike if I could. Great name.

OP - Jonathan/Jonty

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 27/10/2016 23:11

Ok, so Elizabeth, Edward and William the Bloody
Buffy, Teddy and Spike.

Perfect.

FlapsTie · 27/10/2016 23:10

By the way , I love Teddy as a nickname, my Edward is also a Teddy. X

LilyRosePoppy · 27/10/2016 23:09

Spike is ace Grin

GettingitwrongHauntingatnight · 27/10/2016 23:08

What do you think, any names you like?

SansaClegane · 27/10/2016 23:08

Seriously OP you should have told us their real names first. Of course everyone will reply with 'Spike' as a sibling name for Buffy!
As for names to go with Edward and Elizabeth, I suggest looking at the back of a Thomas the Tank Engine book and choosing a name there (Henry, Toby, Molly etc; Cranky or Diesel maybe not so much) as they tend to be the traditional and ubiquitous style like your other two.

GettingitwrongHauntingatnight · 27/10/2016 23:07

Victoria nn Torie or Vicky

BellaVida · 27/10/2016 23:06

Sophia- Saffy
Virginia-Ginny
Jonathan- Jonty
Montgomery- Monty

LilyRosePoppy · 27/10/2016 23:06

It's funny to take this piss out of my children's names? And make me feel crap? You're like a bunch of school bullies.

All I wanted was some name advice.

OP posts:
Vixxfacee · 27/10/2016 23:05

Penelope nn piper or nelly

Donatellalymanmoss · 27/10/2016 23:04

Dave.

sonlypuppyfat · 27/10/2016 23:04

Come it's all getting a bit mean, even though it's a little bit funny

Gileswithachainsaw · 27/10/2016 23:04

I'd use buffy for real if I could Blush
