Lulu for a boy

Lucien nn Lulu (Lucien pronounced with a soft c like Lucy, not ch as in Italian like Luciano).

Lulu would probably only last though childhood.

Not expecting currently, just thinking for the future.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Please no.

I mean, it's fine as a baby pet name, just like snickerdoodlepumpkinwibblypops is, but not as a common or garden name for a child.

Blu · 27/10/2016 08:47

Lucien yes, shortened to Lou or Louie, fine.
Lulu no.

Loyly · 27/10/2016 08:42

No

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 27/10/2016 08:41

NO.

UnicornPee · 27/10/2016 08:07

Lucien sounds like the worst kind of baddy in a film.
Lulu for a girl = kid will be bullied.
May as well call him dildo or poo

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 27/10/2016 08:06

No. No. No.

BikeRunSki · 27/10/2016 08:01

Use Lucien and see what nickname evolves. Predetermined nicknames are very contrived.

milkysmum · 27/10/2016 07:56

No sorry it's not good

NashvilleQueen · 27/10/2016 07:56

Lucien was a choice of mine had I had a boy so it's a big yes from me. But not Lulu as a nickname I'm afraid

SorenaJ · 27/10/2016 07:53

I'm not too fond of the name Lulu (for any gender), maybe Lou as a nn could be an alternative?

Only1scoop · 27/10/2016 07:06

Awful like that old Harry Enfield babies sketch

BendydickCuminsnatch · 27/10/2016 07:01

I'm surprised people are so strongly 'no', as this is the kind of thing that would just automatically come out of my mouth (for my own kid I mean). Was thinking about the name Lucas, he'd probably get Lulu, Lu, Lubadoo, Lubedoobedoo, Lukie etc.

But no I wouldn't introduce him as Lulu, would OP?

ThisIsReallyNotMyName · 27/10/2016 06:01

No, no, no.

Confusednotcom · 27/10/2016 05:49

Love Lucien for a boy. Lulu is a girls name.

IDismyname · 27/10/2016 05:40

No. Just no.

Meeep · 27/10/2016 04:45

Lu is fine but Lulu just isn't.

FixItUpChappie · 27/10/2016 04:16

Lucien is great, Lulu - no and nooo.

flumpybear · 27/10/2016 04:08

My 4yo DS calls his willy lulu ... so no!! Lucien is lovely

Middleoftheroad · 27/10/2016 04:07

Makes me think of Ab Fab sorry!

Kiwiinkits · 27/10/2016 03:36

Nope.

TallulahTheTiger · 27/10/2016 03:18

Sorry but makes me think of a Pomeranian!

purplefox · 27/10/2016 03:16

Lucien is fine, Lulu is not.

eyebrowsonfleek · 27/10/2016 03:11

Lou (Lu) would be fine but LuLu sounds like a shortening of a female name like Louise which isn't ideal.

sycamore54321 · 27/10/2016 03:02

Not a fan but if you have to, at least try to write it with an 'o' - Lou. Or use a single syllable. Lulu just makes me think of the singer and the cloying perfume popular with ladies of a certain age (although maybe that is spelt Lou, I don't know).

Lou or Luca both would be better shortenings from Lucien in my opinion.

maisybobbins · 27/10/2016 02:57

Don't be daft.
