DH has, this morning, decided to veto Eliza. It's his mother's name and he doesn't have a particularly close relationship with her. My argument is that she doesn't even go by Eliza but rather by her middle name. He has to have a veto.

So for alternatives I've suggested either Elizabeth or Isla.

I love Eliza and Charlotte, but then my cousin is Charlotte and my God daughter is Eliza, so I associate the names with people I love.
Love, love, love Frances, no one I know has the name but I think it's a really good child's and adults name with nn potential too.

Eliza is a up and coming name IMO it was 49th last year Charlotte was 25th So really you are fairly likely to meet children with both names.

Personally I would go with Frances Jane for the MN I personally slightly prefer Eliza Frances Jane to Charlotte Frances Jane.. However not much in it. Both are pretty names.

Both lovely but I prefer Eliza. I do like Elizabeth for the bc though, although Eliza would be fine on its own. Elizabeth gives more options but it depends whether you want those or not

As I said I like both. Like Frances too, that was my grans middle name. If you're not sure about Eliza or Elizabeth, what about Elise as an alternative? It's our neighbour's dd's name and I love it! Very pretty names all of them!

They are both nice, but Eliza would be more unusual. Agree the East London thing must be referring to 'My Fair Lady'- character of Eliza Dolittle who is a poor London flower seller - ie. they are saying it was a popular name with the Cockney working class in the 19 th century. But actually it was also popular with the upper classes around 1800, look in Jane Austen.

Don't think any of that applies now though so ignore!
