Female equivalent of Jayden!

airingcupboard · 21/10/2016 11:21

Sorry agree - chavvy. Bit like Sharon or Tracey.

twilightcafe · 21/10/2016 11:20

Mmmm - not my cup of tea.

But why come on Baby names if you don't want to hear strong opinions?

neveradullmoment99 · 21/10/2016 11:09

*Hayley

I know a Harley and she is 7. She is a lovely girl. If you like it, use it!

Fucking hell, do you people forget that these are actual names and people reading these threads might actually be named them? What's wrong with saying 'I'm not at all a fan of that' or 'not to my taste' instead of throwing around spiteful and baseless class judgements?

Anyway OP it's alright - I wouldn't have picked it myself but there you go - my preferred spelling is Haley, but obviously I'm biased Wink and couldn't possibly be from an educated or middle class family, so clearly kno nuffink bot speellins...

And if you name her Hayley/Hailey/Haley now, at least she won't spend the rest of her life going 'Yes Hayley. No not after the comet. Yes it does sound like that doesn't it hahaha' christ that was some tedious shit

It's awful, sorry.

How about Haidee?

Bubbles1986 · 21/10/2016 10:01

I love it. I've only met 3 or 4 Hayley's so its not a common name and certainly has no chav connotation that I'm aware of. I would said Hails is the most common nickname to it.

MrsJayy · 21/10/2016 09:55

People are really harsh about names bloody hell dont come into "Baby names" if you have a sensitive nature you will be crushed

GinIsIn · 21/10/2016 09:43

Erm..... I don't love it. Sorry!

BarInSpace · 21/10/2016 09:40

I really like it and have only met nice Hayleys! Due a comeback Smile

HeteronormativeHaybales · 21/10/2016 08:41

'Chavvy' is an awful word but tbh I wouldn't expect a Hayley to be from an educated, for want of a better word 'middle-class' family. And it is very 70s/80s to me.

Lancelottie · 21/10/2016 08:41

The one I knew at school was nicknamed Haystack, but I think that was a side effect of the wayward fair hair. It was quite a good nickname, really.

HeteronormativeHaybales · 21/10/2016 08:39

Horrific. Sorry. So many beautiful names out there, why would you?

Pluto30 · 21/10/2016 08:37

It's chavvy where I live too. Two of my neighbours growing up were named Hayley (I think one was spelt Haylee) and they were no Miranda Priestley, to put it lightly.

letmepeeinpeace · 21/10/2016 07:46

Sorry! It's chavvy where I live! Most Hayley's wear trackies tucked into their lonsdale socks

Dontyouknow2016 · 21/10/2016 06:45

I know loads of Hayleys from 20s to 50s. It's ok not a current name. Not in the same league as Sharon and Tracy.

Alisvolatpropiis · 21/10/2016 06:41

It is a bit dated. But not in the same way Sharon or Tracey from the previous generation are.

I've always liked how "balanced" it looks, with the y's.

Coey2016 · 21/10/2016 06:38

I quite like it.

ClaudiaJean2016 · 21/10/2016 01:08

I like Hayley.

This has really mixed responses! I'm a bit biased as the only Hayley I knew was at secondary school and wasn't very nice. I'm 37 and do feel it's a bit 'of my era'. Not that that means you shouldn't use it. You will prob get 50/50 reaction in real life too (though I hope everyone smiles sweetly and doesn't offend you) but it depends if it matters to you what they think.

Bop33 · 21/10/2016 00:48

I'm called Hayley, I never saw it as chavvy or outdated or ugly! I get loads of compliments on my name. But then, where I am, it's not very common. Each to their own 🙂
