Hi everyone,

I'm new here!

We have decided on Katy/Katie for our baby girl.

Which spelling? I think I prefer Katie, DH prefers Katy... Blush

Thanks everyone!!

Katy.

moomoo222 · 09/10/2016 09:31

I love 'Katy' and it would have been the name we chose if either or our boys had been girls! I agree with pp's - Katie I would presume was a shortening of Kathleen/Katherine but Katy is a standalone name. If it were ever considered 'childish' (which hadn't occurred to me prior to reading replies above!) then Kat is a lovely shortening.

katemess12 · 09/10/2016 09:25

Katy.

Katie looks like it's a nickname, to me. I'd assume Katy was a full name.

Raines100 · 09/10/2016 09:14

Katy as in 'What Katy did' for me, too.

Oysterbabe · 09/10/2016 08:43

I prefer Katie. I also want to say the Katy spelling as catty.

Katymac · 09/10/2016 08:30

I'm biased

AidingAndAbetting · 09/10/2016 08:28

I prefer Katy. I think the y looks more grown up then the ie somehow.

BillStickersIsInnocent · 09/10/2016 08:25

I have a Katy - she chops and changes the spelling all the time though, has done since she could write her name!

We named her after the apple.

pilotswife · 09/10/2016 08:17

Katie is pretty - don't like y ending at all

SerialBodenReturner · 09/10/2016 08:16

I meant all personalised things are Katie, obvs...

SerialBodenReturner · 09/10/2016 08:15

I like them both, but know a couple of girls who are Katy and they always moan that all the personalised things are 'Katy'.

Probably not a major lifelong problem. But very important if you're eight or under!

UnicornPee · 09/10/2016 08:11

Definetly Katie.
Katy looks like it says catty

Sophronia · 09/10/2016 07:55

Katy

moodyblues · 08/10/2016 23:44

I'm Katy, I think it is much prettier, I dislike ie endings.

0pti0na1 · 08/10/2016 23:42

Katie

MerryPerry · 08/10/2016 23:39

I'm a Katy and spend my life correcting people and explaining it's 'with a Y'. Members of my own family still get it wrong after 40 years. Actually, I don't like it at all. I always feel faintly embarrassed introducing myself with such a childish-sounding name especially in professional situations. It doesn't help that where I live 'Ts' are always dropped in the local accent which makes it sound worse.

peaceloveandbiscuits · 08/10/2016 23:38

Katy!

RollerDiscoQueen · 08/10/2016 23:34

Katy. But Kate is even nicer.

youngestisapsycho · 08/10/2016 23:32

My DD is a Katy, I hate the ie spelling, doesn't look right to me.... although all those naff kids things with names on are always Katie or Kate.

inaclearingstandsaboxer · 08/10/2016 23:32

My DD is Katie Alice

DramaAlpaca · 08/10/2016 23:28

I loved the 'What Katy Did' books, so I'm going to say Katy.

FantaZero6 · 08/10/2016 23:25

Maybe Kate would be better... it depends if we find another middle name we like!

Oh I see you already addressed the Kate thing.

polkadotpolarbear · 08/10/2016 23:20

I think Katy is pretty.

Abetes · 08/10/2016 23:20

Katie definitely
