Daisy or Maisy?

We love both!

We're not massive fans of Maisie, but absolutely love Maisy Grin but know it will probably be spelt as Maisie, so might be better to go with Daisy?

Daisy. Maisie is so popular and cutesy and Maisy just looks wrong.

I know a very successful, intelligent and high achieving Daisy and never thought it didn't suit her.

Although I like both, I'll vote Daisy (because my DD22 is Daisy - she hasn't yet encountered any difficulties due to having what PPs say is a "cutesy" name).

I like both names but am put off by the popularity. In my daughter year at school (75 kids) there's 3 Daisy's and 3 Maisy's.

Obviously I'm biased as I have a Daisy. And I just don't disagree with the idea that a name pigeon holes the owner by being 'cutsie'. Daisy Donovan and Daisy Lowe are neither.

My ex said the same when I wanted to call our DD Georgia-Lily double barrelled. His words were "imagine her being a solicitor called into court , he said no one could take her seriously with a name like Georgia-Lily" but fast forward 20 years and Lily-May, Ella-Rose' , Maisie, Daisy, Mollie-Mae's all these cutesy names will just be "normal" names for Solicitors, GPs etc.

Really sweet nns for a chubsy baby, but inescapably infantile imo. Daisy, being a flower, is marginally less graceless. Maisie just reminds me of a threadbare chintz sofa or Mrs Tiggywinkle or something.

I have both of these in my immediate family, one is my daughter and one my sister! I will say, I thought 'too cutesy' when my sister was born (I was 17), but over the years I've got used to it. She's not a girlie cutesy type but is a very cool and independent teen and it still suits her.

Daisy. You could always go for Margaret / Marguerite and use Daisy as the nickname

But if you like flower names, why not use something a little less cutie-pie.

Like Iris, or Violet.
Or Artemisia (bit out there, but way cool!)
