Italian boys name!

DH has already said no to Matteo and Luca 😫. Any ideas for an Italian boy name that works in U.K. also? We have Francesca and Alessia picked out for a girl..

I'm in the North of Italy with three kids (so know lots of classmates!) and the only Domenico I know is in his forties.

I know loads of Dominicos all under 10.

I also know loads of Raffaeles all under 10 too.

Does anyone know how Domenico (Dominic) is viewed in Italy these days? Is it seen as old fashioned? Raffaelle is seen as a very uncool name in the north of Italy which is why I ask. I don't want to name him the equivalent of Derek or Keith! I think Dominic might have potential as I love Nico as a nickname

Italian boys I know are called
Rocco
Lorenzo
Gabriele
Calogero (teenager)
All of them have Italian surnames so it really flows smoothly

Giacomo was one of the ones on our list and it was the potential for mispronunciation/misspelling that put us off. We went with Dante in the end but still find that people pronounce it oddly - Dunte or Donte Confused. I've pointed this out on other threads on Italian names but, strangely, the sorts of names you might find in a Surrey golf club seem to be making a comeback in Italy - in my dad's village we have an Ian, an Alan and a Dennis...

We avoided names beginning with Gi because of spelling difficulties and also because there is a tendency for English-speakers to pronounce the "i" (so Gianni becomes Jee-arnie insteady of Jahnny; Giorgio becomes Jee-or-jee-oh etc).

If you like Alessia you could have Alessio. Other boys I know are Filippo, Jacopo, Nicolò, Bruno, Paolo, Pietro, Oscar, Samuele, Lorenzo, Franceso, Teo, Mattia.

Lapo makes me think of Lapo Elkann.

If you aren't familiar with him google him. It's not something I'd like to think of when I call my kid for his dinner

My family is Italian and I've chosen Italian names for my four dc. These were all on my list for my two boys I've used two for their first names and two for their middle names but I loved the others too. I don't this Lapo would work here it would be pronounced laypo which I don't love.

Hugo is Ugo in Italian though which is a bit too uggy for my liking!
