Middle name for Leocadia

I think, hope that we've decided upon Leocadia if this baby who is due for eviction in less than nine weeks is a girl.
Struggling for middle names.
Other DDs are Sylvie Jacinta and Delilah Elisabeth.
Any ideas?

Baby names is not the place to ask for advice if you only want people to love your choice. Better try an antenatal club thread for that. Fwiw I like leocadia and leocadie but they won't be to everybody's taste. Best to acknowledge that I think. The advice to pick a simpler middle name is sound.

Oh completely get you there Raines, I feel much the same about most of the more unfortunately associated names from The Ovid which frequently pop up on here but I personally couldn't use. Each to their own and all that Smile

My OH likes Leocadie Raphaella too.

Yes I'm aware she'll probably be called Leo as a diminutive.

I'd go for a simple name that she might actuallt want to be called and not have to spell every single time.

Leocadia/e would work better as a middle name.
She will be called Leo, btw.

Oh, don't worry. It's not a negative association. He wrote a play called Arcadia, which I once studied, and I wouldn't name my child something that reminds me of my A level coursework!
There's also a phrase related to Arcadia that makes that name somewhat ill-fated, but as Leocadia was a martyred saint, I'm sure an even more tenuous connotation won't put you off! Grin

Like Leocadie Raphaella btw.

It's actually a saints name which dates to the fourth century. 😀 So considerably less 'made up' than the majority of names and as I said, we're catholic so I would know.

Raines I think you may be right but I don't know who Tom Stoppard is, worth a google?

Never heard of Leocadie/Leocadia. I thought it was made up. Hmm

Something simple for a middle name.

Leocadie Raphaella Leeming is way too much of a mouthful, IMO.

I think Leocadie Leeming sounds a million miles better. Flows off the tongue instead of tripping me up. And Leocadie sounds like a girl's name. Leocadia makes me think of Tom Stoppard.

We have ummed and ahhed between Leocadia and Leocadie, I actually think that Leocadie fits better with our sibset.

I'd be tempted to go for Leocadie Raphaella in that instance.

If you consider Leocadie instead of Leocadia (French rather than Spanish version), then the middle name could end in an "a" sound...

Leocadie Cordelia
Leocadie Fidelia
Etc...

Other people seem to like Leocadia, but I'm afraid I think Leocadia Leeming is rather a mouthful. I'm all for unusual names, and alliteration can be cool- Leah Leeming?- but I don't personally think this works.

I like Leocadia Carmen.

I would assume a Spanish heritage with Leocadia, regardless of the middle name. It's unusual (unless you're Spanish obviously) and it's a lovely name.

I think the usual thinking behind having a more commonly used middle name when you have a very unusual first name is so that your child can choose the middle name instead if they don't enjoy standing out so much.

I have a very unusual name and like it very much, but it can be a burden. It's much easier to move to a middle name than to deed poll to a new name.

I think Carmen sounds good as a middle name, of course there is always Mary :)

Without meaning to be rude to people. I think a very unusual name would need something unusual as a MN to match it. A name like Leocadia Mae/Grace/Belle, althougb they roll off the tongue with most first names just sounds daft to my ears.

Both my girls have unusual first names so we went with something simple for middle names, Beth and Marie. How about Jane?
