Which do you prefer?

Double barrelled surname Smile

WitchesGlove · 19/09/2016 22:23

Like both

Would go with Violet though

funfunapple · 19/09/2016 22:21

Violet. Scarlett is dreadful and affected

katemess12 · 19/09/2016 22:20

I like both equally, but only like Scarlett spelt with two t's.

NoncommittalToSparkleMotion · 19/09/2016 22:17

Ooh, I love both!

One of those "wait til you see the baby" situations.

Pudding01 · 19/09/2016 22:16

Violet! It's prettier & in my opinion, classier Smile

SpringBail · 19/09/2016 22:14

Violet is a really pretty name, Scarlet IMO is a bit meh!

ElvenMoonwings · 19/09/2016 22:13

I know both can be thought of as colours, among other things such as the flower, but to me they have drastically different images. For Scarlet the phrase "a scarlet woman" comes to mind, and for Violet the phrase "a shrinking violet" comes to mind. Scarlet is a colour associated with danger and sexual passion, while violet is a colour which is associated with mourning, and it means modesty in flower language.

Scarlett also reminds me of Scarlett O'Hara in Gone With The Wind. She was beautiful and attractive, but also impetuous and selfish and very strong-willed. Not really a "good woman" sort of character.

So they have such drastically different images to me. I like Violet much more. I love blue violet flowers and violet perfume, and I think Violet sounds very sweet and demure, and I personally would prefer sweet and demure to feisty and the other connotations.

I think Violet is rising in popularity now, so though Scarlett has been more popular, I don't think Violet's a rare name either

rhuhbarb4 · 19/09/2016 22:11

Scarlett. But that's personal preference I have a dd that is 2 and she is Scarlett with a double barrelled surname.

ScarlettDarling · 19/09/2016 22:11

Scarlett of course! Beautiful name.

BellaShLex · 19/09/2016 22:10

Violet is lovely, so pretty.

MrsGsnow18 · 19/09/2016 21:16

Scarlett seems like a very strong confident sort of name I think. I don't patricualry like it, though I've no real reasons why. I've never known one.
Violet I think it the better of the two options.

Honeybee79 · 19/09/2016 20:58

Both lovely. I would wait until you meet her to make the final decision but my preference would be Violet.

Sativa · 19/09/2016 18:56

I love Violet - the colour, the flower & it's my cousin's name Smile I also like the letters and how the word sounds Grin

KatieScarlett · 19/09/2016 18:54

Scarlett

Lutrine · 19/09/2016 18:52

Violet is gorgeous

Nonameyet1 · 19/09/2016 18:41

I love both too, tough one!

Purplebluebird · 19/09/2016 18:25

I love both to be honest!

villainousbroodmare · 19/09/2016 18:17

Scarlet is a strong vibrant colour. Violet is demure and subtle. Maybe you should wait till you see her!

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 19/09/2016 18:15

Definitely Scarlett, beautiful name OP.

Foxtato · 19/09/2016 17:45

Violet - lovely!

AmysTiara · 19/09/2016 17:40

I don't like the spelling of Scarlet so I'll say Violet.

EvermoreEvermore · 19/09/2016 17:39

Violet

harderandharder2breathe · 19/09/2016 17:38
