Thoughts please? How many do you know, where are you and how old. Loved it for ages, now trying for Dc2 and having a wobble.

Fab name! I know one Tessa in her 60s and two under fives (maybe becoming a bit more popular in last couple of years?)

Tess/Tessa is my name and I have always loved having a name which is not overused but recognised immediately. Go for it!

I think Tessa is gorgeous as a full name, I have always considered it a name in its own right. I don't think you need anything else (not keen on Estella).

And Tess is divine as her day to day name. You can't go wrong, great choice!

One of my favourite people is called Tess, and all the ones I've ever met have been lovely people.

I was perusing old threads on baby names and someone said Tess / Tessa could be short for Esther. Maybe a bit tenuous but I like it all the same.

Like it, tho I'd probably go with Teresa. But Tessa is lovely, unusual, but entirely spell-able. Go for it (and congratulations on dc2).

Tess is a lovely nickname but a bit short for a name in its own right.

What is wrong with T(h)eresa? (Tess of the d'Urbervilles' real name).

Was high up on my list (had boys). I also think it's a fab dog's name but don't let that put you off.
Prefer Tess to Tessa/Teresa/Tessalyn etc

I know two Tesses (can't decide what the plural of Tess is, sorry), no Tessas.

They are not short for anything, just Tess on their BCs. Both are teens.

DH's absolute favourite name.

I'm less keen because of Tess of the d'Urbervilles (and only then because my job randomly connects me to it, so people at work would think it was weird)

I have known about 4 over the years, all different ages, all gorgeous girls/women. It's such an underused classic, strong but pretty, don't wobble!

I think which one also depends on your surname- a short surname need a longer first name: Tessa Smith, whilst a longer surname can suit a shorter first name: Tess Williamson.

I know a 7 year old Tess. It's a great name - unusual, but not way out weird and wacky.

I like it. I was with my nephew in the park the other day and he was playing with a little girl called Tess. She was beautiful.

I have a 6 year old Tess.... Everyone loves her name. She never stops talking though.... But that might be specific to my Tess

I'm not terribly keen on Tess but only because I once knew a labrador named Tess and it always makes me think 'dog's name' when I hear it... I only know of Tess Daily apart from that.

I quite like Tessa though and I knew one at university who was a lovely and very clever girl from London. Other than that I don't know any.

I know one Tessa (she's Tessa on the b/c, not a longer name) in sixth form. Also one Teresa in her late thirties.

There's another Tessa I was at primary school with who would be in her mid thirties now, but I'm not in touch with her, and another friend had a mother called Tessa.

The name really suits/suited. I love it, although if I used it I think I would end up going for one of the longer versions on the birth certificate and using Tessa or Tess day to day.

I was wondering the other day whether the canonisation of Mother Teresa or having Theresa May as PM would have an impact on popularity. (I quite liked Cameron for a boy and DH said we couldn't possibly call him that in case people thought we'd named him after David Cameron).
