Posted this in the wrong thread last night! So I need advice! Called my son Dylan James ( both family names - my maiden name is Dillon)! But people are spelling Dylan wrong and giving him silly nicknames! Starting to think we should call him by his middle name James! Thoughts on Dylan and James please??

Yes that's what my husband has said , I can't control it! In future I will know to go for a name that can't be shortened! Don't like Jim either :(

Well before you do that, remember you could end up with Jimmy, Jim, Jamie, Jay. Would any of those bother you particularly?

I don't see what wrong with Dyl tbh but I know that's just personal taste.

Tbh you won't be able to control what nns he gets. I get called all sorts of things by my family and friends which have little or nothing to do with my name!

Never thought people would shorten Dylan. I'm stupid!!

Dyl? That's just a shortening. Not silly, it's the most obvious one. How did you not expect it it?

What silly nicknames are they giving him?
