Masculine girls names

Any suggestions? Think Dylan, James, Aaron, etc for a little girl.

The most obvious are Charlie and Jamie but I'm not so keen on those.

I love American "surname for first names" especially unisex ones, already used Parker and Carter.

I love boyish names for girls, I just like the way they sound. Alex is my all-time favourite name for a boy or a girl. Stevie is brilliant and definitely on my list for future DC. I also love Jude for a boy or a girl and Max and Harry are cool. I know two women who are called Alexandra but known exclusively as Alex and it gives me serious name envy.

I don't think boy names are 'better' per se, there are definite girl names that I like too (Elena, Catherine/Kate, Eve), but I'm not girly at all and cutesy girly names/nicknames make me cringe so I just like the sound of all the names I listed above. I mostly go by a short version of my name which is also the very commonly used short form of the male equivalent of my name. My name actually IS a male name in most other European countries. There is a 'female' short form too with a 'y/ie' sound on the end and I absolutely hate it, have done since I was a child - nobody ever calls me that more than once!

My cousins youngest DD is called Adrienne, I think it's beautiful, really suits her. I love Jesse for a boy but DH is having none of it Grin

Where did OP say that boys names were better?!

What's wrong with preferring masculine names for girls (not necessarily boys' names), I don't like cutesy names for boys or girls and like surnames for first names (I have a Carter as well OP!)

I just didn't want "of the time" names for either of my kids.

OP what about Theo/Thea for a girl, Theo is a very cool nickname for a girl.

PS - you can call me Jeffrey any time you'd like (mwah!)

Joss is a unisex name. Robin is a unisex name. Devon is a unisex name. I know boys and girls with those names.

Robin and Lee and Ashley are unisex names. Op fair enough your children dont have tradional boy/girl names so Lilly would not fit however masculine names are not better names

But Bert I only have one DS lol, those names are given to girls so they are unisex because they are used for both gender.

All i made this for was suggestions on boys names that suited girls. Not to be flamed for whatever reason you all see fit, my DC are already named so there's no point slating their names Grin

MrsJayy My point was I think names have absolutely nothing to do with strength/personality... I agree. I just like unisex names.

I have a Kennedy, Parker, Carter and Jesse... I'm not exactly going to then have a Lilly-May I just don't like girly names, nothing except personal preference Smile I wouldn't tell someone using names such as Charlotte, Christopher, James, Sarah to want to use names like Krystal or Zebedee

I agree with Bertrand on this girls names are not weak and there is nothing wrong with feminine names calling a girl say Poppy isnt a weak or feeble. I dont have anything against unisex names having a masculine name does not a stronger girl make.

YourNewspaper My parents were way ahead of their time when they named me Jessie. It was an amalgamation of my Grandads name (Jeremy) and my Nans (Flossie). Twilight eat your heart out! Incidentally, my Grandad used to get called Jem, which is now thought of as a 'girls' name.

I do too.
But you don't get rid of that by giving girls boy's names- which then automatically become girl's names anyway because people won't them use them for boys any more.

And there isn't a person on here who would call a boy Violet or Emily or Susanna. And rightly not. But what does that say about societal norms and the value we put on maleness.

If not, give your girl a girl's name.

Yes let employers see her CV and not short list her.

If I had a daughter she would have either a gender neutral name or one that can be shortened to gender neutral eg Victoria/Victor or Christine/Chris.
