Due on Friday and still undecided for girl's names. Shortlist is:
Lydia
Katherine (poss shortened to Katie?)
Ivy

Middle name will be Rose (family reasons) and surname is 4 syllables beginning with 'Sh'.

Thoughts please?!

Very true about the plant theme! Hmm.

I love Lydia and Katherine would be my second choice.

Don't like Ivy, plus is it's very 'in' at the moment which would put me off.

ABCFamily · 05/09/2016 05:57

Lydia is gorgeous, and was on my shortlist, so that's definitely my favourite.

I also like Ivy, but think Ivy Rose is a bit too flowery in the literal sense! Katherine is ok, but seems a bit staid compared to the others.

Can't really go wrong with any of those names though.

I love Katherine but not Katie

I love Ivy but it's a bit too floral with Rose. Lydia Rose is gorgeous

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 04/09/2016 22:10

Definitely Katherine (Kathryn).

passingthrough1 · 04/09/2016 21:40

That surprises me MrsMargeSimpson as I'd assume any Kate or Katies were Katherine or Kathryn or Catherine on the BC.. Same as a Lizzie would be an Elizabeth. Wouldn't it be quite unusual to just have Katie on the BC?

RiverTam · 04/09/2016 21:40

Lydia

Definitely not Ivy

Katherine is OK

Biscuitsneeded · 04/09/2016 21:34

I love them all. We must have similar name taste. I'd just wait and see what seems right when she's born.

katemess12 · 04/09/2016 21:33

I have an Ivy, so I'm biased. But I'm not sure Ivy Rose is the best combination.

So, I'd say Katherine Rose. I love Katherine.

Acunningruse · 04/09/2016 20:27

Thanks all, think we might leave it as shortlist and see what she suits when she arrives Smile

I like Katherine the best.

CakeRattleandRoll · 04/09/2016 15:08

Lydia Rose.

Rosaaa · 04/09/2016 13:00

For me:

  1. Katherine / Catherine
  2. Lydia
  3. Ivy
eachtigertires · 04/09/2016 12:49

I like Ivy the best.

Hulafox · 04/09/2016 12:38

I like Ivy the best - esp if your surname is quite long. With Katherine it might just end up being a lot of letters!

allegretto · 04/09/2016 11:56

I love Lydia and Katherine. I like Ivy but not with Rose as a second name - sounds a bit weird to have two plants!

VioletsAreViolet · 04/09/2016 11:55

Love Ivy.

Katherine's okay, but a bit dull.

Can't stand Lydia.

babyblabber · 04/09/2016 11:54

Ivy or Lydia.

Not a fan of Katherine, if you go for it Catherine looks so much nicer.

Heratnumber7 · 04/09/2016 11:53

Ivy sounds like a Victorian kitchen maid.
Katherine and Lydia are both nice.

Mausageandsash · 04/09/2016 11:51

Lydia X

maryellie · 04/09/2016 11:50

Ivy Star

fluentinsarcasm · 04/09/2016 11:49

Like Katherine the best, Ivy the least.

There's no wiggle room with Ivy if she doesn't like it.... maybe V but think it sounds harsh
Katherine has loads ...Katie, Kate, Kathy, Kitty, Kat
