How many little Olivers do you know?

Really struggling to come up with a boy's name that DH and I agree on. I have always loved Oliver but am hugely put off by its popularity having topped the names stats yet again for 2015. Despite the popularity, I don't actually know any young Olivers so wondered if I just live in a bubble. Are there several per class at school these days?

Go for it, it's lovely. I don't know any little Olivers, I only ever knew one and he will be 36 by now. Albert seems very popular where I live for some reason.

I know one aged 16 and one aged 8. I can't think of any in my ds's primary school.

Loads. I have one who is nearly 10 and at that time I didn't know any. Now I am constantly turning around because I am always hearing someone calling out to an Oliver.

13 year old in our house and have worked with pre-school children since 2000 and only known two, who would now be 5 and 6

Ds2 is Oliver (aged 6). He's the only one in his class and out of the whole school of 180 pupils there's only one other in Year 6.

Ds2 is called Oliver, Ollie and Ol intermittently.

I know 3 Olivers. 2 under 5 and 1 who is 12yrs.

I spoke to my friend over the weekend who said that on her Facebook time line, 3 baby boys had been born in the last 2 weeks all called Oliver.

I know of one only but DS is a small baby so I don't know that many children yet. My son has a popular name but I don't care. I have a MAJOR issue with "faddy" names but traditional names that will always be popular are fine with me.
Oliver is lovely. And really it's not anything like an Alfie or whatever which will date.

I love the name. Its traditional but somehow slightly different. I don't know anyone called Oliver other than my DS2 who is 14!
I love Oliver but he is also known as Olly too.

Actually it's 4, there is also one on DC's class. She's in year 1. All the Oliver's are 5 or under.

The only Olivers I know are 25 (my age) and about 17.

I don't know any little ones, but I don't actually know too many baby or toddler boys. Everyone seems to be having girls around me!

I have an Oliver and in his school (he is in Year 4) there is only 2 in 300 children. I fully expected him to be in a class with at least one other but nope. I have no idea where all these Oliver's are hiding.

I know lots, the oldest is 26 and the youngest is 2.

Ducky's post at 20:04 has the answer there. If roughly 1% of all babies born in 2015 are Oliver's - only 1 in every 100 babies, or 1 in every 50 baby boys nationwide - then it's not surprising that most people only know a couple.

It'd be more common to have a typical school class of 30 kids with no Oliver's at all, than a school class with 2 or more Oliver's, based on that.

My Son Is Jack and when he was at Primary it was the number 1 name for boys for a few years and yet there was only 2 in his whole school . I rarely hear Jack here. It may just depend on the area you live. You could decide to call him something at number 100 on the list and there be another 2 in his class once he starts school and no Olivers ... Don't let it put you off .

How many do I actually know? Just two actually - one is a toddler and the other is an adult.

That said, I have met a few more children and babies called Oliver but just wouldn't say I know them.

It is a popular name I think, but it wouldn't necessarily put me off if I really loved it.
