Will Aleksander cause too many problems?

We are expecting a son. Our favourite name is Aleksander. Will it cause too many problems?

We're Danish.

DH really wants a son called Oleksandr. We are as English as it gets though, so would be a bit odd. Go for it OP!

I don't see any issues. You're Danish so naturally would choose This spelling over Uk spelling ( I'm assuming this is Danish spelling)
It's an awesome name, I really love it! Some people when they meet him at first might spell wrong but that could happen with many names and is not a big deal! People who know him will just learn how it is spelt.

I agree with the point Francis makes and I think it'll be fine spelt the Danish way.

I think it's a good choice if you want something that works in both languages. The spelling is fairly straightforward although not typical for English.

As an English/Danish household I'd only avoid names with æ ø å and those which are very difficult for English speakers to pronounce. So Aleksander is fine

I am amazed that people think having to spell your name every single time and correct it every time you haven't would not be a problem.

I have a very ordinary name, with an unusual spelling. It's a family name, in my case - I just think my ancestors couldn't spell.

It's a PITA. I have to correct people all the time. People always want to fix it for me. I always get comments about how someone has spelt my name wrong. Sometime people do "fix it" and I miss out on communications I should have had. I often feel a bit judged for having a yooneek spelling.

I'm not saying don't do it, but don't take the word of people who are not in this situation that it's nothing. Because they're not placed to comment.

(Yes, I know it's just a small problem, but it's not a non-problem.)

For clarity, my name is not along the lines of the ones Francis cites, where there is more than one accepted spelling.

It's more like Franciss, instead of Francis.
