This is our shortlist. What do people prefer? How would you rank each name?

Never anything too negative , most people love it , right from birth we referred to her as Nelly which raised a few eyebrows and created several nicknames .Nelly belly , Nell's bells , furtarto but surprisingly never 'the elephant' .

She regards the Nelly furtarto song 'I'm like a bird ' to be her song .

Nelly the elephant has never been mentioned !

I still love her name, as she gets older though she is becoming more of a Nell than Nelly .

I think its a very elegant name , uncommon but not unusual ,just perfect .

Timeless ( obvs I'm a bit biased though Wink)

I have a Nell ,

Never met another one yet , I vaguely know someone that gave it as a middle name but that's as close as I know .

I love Edith with a nn Edie but unfortunately my ex (of many years ago but we live in the same town and still have friends in common) his nan was Edith/ Edie and we used to say that would be our girl name, just think could be a tad awkward if I bumped into him or his family. But gorgeous name!

I love Eden, I know a lovely beautiful 22year old dancer called Eden who has the most loving personality ever!

Eden is my favourite but I might just be a bit biased Grin

I like less common names and DD has been the only one in her infant and junior schools.

At her baby six week checkup, the GP said that he'd not heard of another in the town - that was the idea!

It's becoming more popular here now but I've only heard it here as a girl's name. Someone did once tell me of a boy called Eden but it's definitely more popular as a girl's name in my town.

Eden- know boys called it so makes me think no for a girl

Enid- kinda like it

Nell - to me it's a dogs name

Belle - nah

Imogen - love it as I have one!

Gawd, none of them, sorry.
Nell and Belle are OK but I would only use them as abbreviations for more substantial names.
Enid is dire, I can't believe there are so many people raving about it being beautiful Shock

We have an Imogen and we call her Mim. Everyone comments on how cute it is but then she has Imogen as a grown up name when she is older Smile

Eden - a bit gimmicky
Enid -ok, quite prim

I'm a Nell and get lots of positive comments about my name - it's shortened from Helen though. I do like having a formal, grownup name and a nickname.

I taught a gorgeously cheeky little girl called belle so I love that too.

I'm a bit meh about the others.

I only like Eden. It can be used as a girl's name - actually I have only ever met girls named Eden, no boys.

Nell to me is 'death knell'.
Enid - yowza.
Belle - too Disney.
Imogen - sounds very inelegant to my ear. I put it in the same 'clunky' category as Morag.

Eden for a boy - sorted (only boy's name on your list)

For a girl, I prefer Imogen, with Nell then Belle as runners up.

Nell. I think it's a really lovely name and I know a really lovely Nell (though she did have to have her title printed on her business cards and at the bottom of emails, working in a male dominated industry people who hadn't met her misread it as Neil at least once a week Hmm).
