Opinions on Teddie for a girl?

Just wondered what the general consensus on the name Teddie for a girl are?

Cute or too cutesy?

Teddie on the birth certificate, no longer name.

add pink to teddie to make sure we know it's a girl

Not keen really. It's ok as a nickname but not as a birth name. Bet she changes her name when she gets old enough

Not a fan. Both too cutesy for an adult, and with masculine associations (e.g. Teddy being a nn for Edward and Theodore). Plus the whole teddie underwear association too.

Glenn Close played a character called Teddie Barnes in Jagged Edge so it's a known name for a female, even if mostly in America. It sounds like it would be short for something, maybe Edwina or Theodora or similar.

I like Teddy for a girl (dislike the -ie spelling), but ONLY as a nickname. It would make a sweet, tomboyish nickname for Theodora or some other longer name, but I do think it's a bit too "cute" for a full name.

Well I have to see I agree with you all. It's too cutesy and I can't see an adult woman wanting to use it. God knows it's hard enough to be taken seriously as a woman in business sometimes without being saddled with a name like Teddie.

Her baby, her decision ultimately... But she isn't sure so perhaps still hope for poor baby girl...!

I think it's okay as a nickname, but Theodora on the birth certificate would be better.

(Actually, it's really good, as she could be Thea or Dora for short, as well, if she chose.)

I wouldn't have wanted to be called Teddie at any point of my life.....toddler, teen, adult.....would you?

FWIW, for me it's the double whammy of being too cutesy and also primarily a masculine nn. I quite like Ted/Tedy as a nn for Theodora, but I wouldn't have it as a bc name. This is just opinion, of course, and you should take it as just that!
