How would you naturally pronounce Eben?

Eb- en (as in like it's short for Ebenezer)

Or Ee- Ben

Or Eeb- en

I have a friend called Eben, he pronounces it Eb-en like the start of ebenezer.

I'd probably skirt round the issue of pronunciation until I heard someone else say it out loud, and go with whatever they said.

The Hebrew for rock is e-ven (e like in ever), so I wouldn't make that link tbh.

I teach one and he is Eh-Ben not a a long Ee sound.

Awwwwww that's the name of my very first boyfriend. His was said with a short e as in egg. He was West Indian. Lovely boy. Should have stuck with him and I might not have ended up with bastard exH.

The one I know is South African. He pronounces it E-Ben.

I've known a couple - one had the first pronunciation and the other had the second. Both really lovely kids so I like the name!

I'd pronounce it ee-Ben and would also assume it was a typo ofEden! Haven't heard of the King and it does seem a bit awkward and clunky.

I would say ee Ben as I also saw it as a misspelling of Eden. I've never heard of it.

I'd say Eb-ben.

My favourite university lecturer had a son named Eben who he sometimes talked about, who later invented the Raspberry Pi computer. It makes me think of him!

I'd say Eeben, and I'd assume he was Arabic and that this was some odd misspelling of Ibn ("son of").

I know one and it is pronounced as in Ebenezer, (but is a Hebrew name in its own right, not a shortening of it).

I wouldn't pronounce it any way I'd think it was a spelling mistake as it's neither a recognisable word or a name
