Noah - for a girl?

Why on earth wouldn't you just use the female spelling given its pronounced the same?

Okay to answer your question, I hate it, I think it's an awful name for a girl.
Now if you asked me if I liked the name Noa for a girl, you'd get a completely different answer.

It doesn't really matter if the name was originally unisex if in common usage it is now almost exclusively a boy's name with that spelling, therefore it will be confusing and with the name being very popular for boys at the moment, your DD will more than likely have one or more male Noahs in her class. It also doesn't go with Kate, whichever way you spell it....

There's absolutely no point getting on your high horse about MNers debating whether it's a male or female name and saying that's not what you want to hear - your OP asked for 'thoughts on Noah?' The majority of posters' thoughts are 'it's a boy's name now, why not spell it the feminine way and use Noa.' That may not be what you want to hear but in that case, why ask?

I usually really like boy names on girls (really wanted to call dd Stevie but it got vetoed :( ) but I really am not a fan of the name Noah. Even though it will be an unusual name and she will probably be the only girl in her class with it, there will most likely be at least one boy Noah so she'll still be stuck with being known as Noah S or whatever your last name is.

Lots of things happened in the bible that shouldn't happen today.

Naming a girl Noah is one of them.

Not an issue with people assuming boy - I think many names would be assumed boy - Morgan, etc. (IMO)
I think it would be a real shame if you burdened your child with a name that the majority of the population sees as a boys name. She will have to explain that all of the time. It's no good you arguing that it was a girls name- yes, in the Bible, but not in a section people will recognise so no one will care.
Not a nice name and does not work for a girl.

It is weird how a spelling affects a name, but in this case it totally does. I don't even think it is because Noah is seen as the masculine spelling, I just think it looks clumsy and ugly (for a boy or a girl) Whereas Noa looks cool.

I think Noa is lovely but will cause a lot of confusion if you call her Noah.

I've never heard of it used for a girl but it's super popular for boys right now. I think she would face a lot of confusion and possible bullying.

Every single name in the world is unisex, by the way.

There is no law against calling a boy Margaret, or a girl Trevor.

My daughter was at school with a Noa. Caused the child no end of problems with explaining her name, the spelling of it etc all the time.
Why land a child with such issues?

Noah is hardly a controversial name for a boy and likewise Noa for a girl.

It's only worthy of a thread at all because of the spelling.

Ok this is my last post on this thread as I suspect you are fairly entrenched and don't actually want any views other than "gorgeous hon".

The Darcy analogue isn't the same. The name Darcy just usn't as commonly used/as universally known as Noah.

Of course you are perfectly entitled to call your child anything you like but it's egregious to suggest that you aren't setting the child up for a lifetime of confusions and explanations.

Oh fgs call her Harold Augustus if you like but don't get funny when she hates people spelling it Noa or assuming she's a little boy.
