Hi all,

Expecting twin girls soon and these are the names on our shortlist. DH is Italian and so we wanted names that worked in both Italy and England.

I'd love it if you could tell me which two of these you like the best/go best together and also suggest middle names from the list!

Thanks all X

Cassandra (nn. Cassie)
Isabella (nn. Bella)
Emma
Alessia (nn. Ally)
Rosalia (nn. Rosie or Lia)
Lucia (nn. Lucy)
Serafina (nn. Sera)
Aurelia (nn. Lia?)

  • I am aware that nicknames are formed naturally and most are not chosen, I've just included our preferred nicknames and it would be helpful if you could also offer your opinion on them!

Suggestions are always welcome X

Ally and Rosie

Seen at Godstone Farm: Heidi and Hetty.

My reservation about Cassandra, apart from sounding like Sandra (no offence) is that in greek mythology Cassandra was a 'visionary' who foresaw her own death! Sorry! I know I sound like a snob two ways. But I acted in the play Trojan Women when I was 14 and she was the mad one foreseeing her own death....

Cassandra and Alessia

SorenaJ · 24/08/2016 12:31

I prefer Isabella and Rosalia

BrollySmolly · 24/08/2016 08:26

Cassandra Sofia

Isabella Lucia

Known as Cassie and Bella - love it!

pieceofpurplesky · 23/08/2016 22:35

The Lucia I know has issues with people pronouncing it in different ways - Lu-si-a / Lu-chi-a / Lu-thi-a/ even Lucy-a

She now tells everyone she is Lou and everyone assumes she is a Louise.

Cassie and Bella all the way

crje · 23/08/2016 22:23

Emma Rosa
Lucia Belle

BrollySmolly · 23/08/2016 22:21

Cassie and Bella sound fab!

Caldini22 · 23/08/2016 22:20

Really lovely names! I especially like Lucia and serafina. But they are all very pretty.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 23/08/2016 21:49

The Lucia I know is nicknamed Lulu...

Mummydummy · 23/08/2016 21:31

Such beautiful names. Really beautiful. My faves are Aurelia and Serafina. But as pairs probably:
Serafina and Isabella
Aurelia and Lucia

I also love Aurora, Allegra and Anastasia.

I absolutely love Serafina and Aurelia. They are all lovely names but my least favourite are Cassandra and Lucia.

NorseFrench · 23/08/2016 21:17

Alessia & Lucia are my favourites.
For middle names, are you looking for something that works in English and Italian or it doesn't matter?

pieceofpurplesky · 23/08/2016 21:00

Cassandra and Isabella - Cassie and Bella

I

pinkegg11 · 23/08/2016 20:58

Just a couple of others to consider - Allegra and Sienna.

NapQueen · 23/08/2016 20:51

Aurelia and Lucia (but I prefer the Loosha pronounciation)

user1471501988 · 23/08/2016 20:47

Rosalia Maria and Alessia Sophia

Quercus3 · 23/08/2016 20:34

Cassandra Lucia and Alessia Emma

SteviebunsBottrittrundle · 23/08/2016 19:23

Emma or Alessia and Serafina for me! They are all lovely. I really love nn Ally too.

I knew a Cassandra and she hated her name but I've no idea why as I think it's pretty. Isabella is v well-used where I live so I might steer away from that but it is also v pretty. I find Rosalia and Lucia not to my taste - not keen on the -ia sound at the end of those two.

How about Antonella?

user703749 · 23/08/2016 19:09

I love Cassandra and Isabella as a pair, also Emilia is a beautiful name I think it has Italian roots tho I may be wrong, I think cassie Jane is so sweet and Isabella sound nice with may, grace, Kate. good luck
