Final two boys names

Our gorgeous little boy arrived on Wed and is still nameless - really need to make a decision! We're pretty much down to Arlo or Fox - which do you prefer and why?

My concern is that Arlo is about to become mega popular, though on a par with what I'm not sure...

Arlo. I have a 25 year old nephew called Arlo, so it's not so new. Fox I would avoid because of the story further up the thread about kids saying Fucks and pretending they hadn't. As a middle name fine.

Navy why, exactly?? They are both 'nature' names, presumably chosen for their pleasant association? It's all personal perspective and preference.... Wink

Hi OP, your baby, your choice. I personally prefer Arlo to Fox, maybe consider Rex, lovely name.

People are so fucking rude on this thread! I actually had to scroll up to check it hadn't been posted in Aibu otherwise I genuinely can't understand the venom.... Op clearly likes both names and isn't asking if they are OK, just which is preferable. That old adage familiar to most people over the age of 5 apart from on here, clearly If you can't say anything nice dont say anything at all, springs to mind.... Hmm

Op, I love Fox, genuinely think it's cool and no weirder than calling a child Daisy or Rose; Foxes have had some bad press in recent yrs since they've been forced more into 'human space' by over urbanisation and labeled Baby Eaters by shrieking paranoid Daily Fail readers but they are truly beautiful, calm and noble creatures. And I certainly wouldnt bat an eyelid if a grown up introduced himself as such - except maybe to think What a cooool name! Grin

Also, prefer it over All as know of several (nationally) and although it's quite nice a and unusual at the mo I definitely think it's enjoying a surge! Plus sounds funny abbreviated!

Just go with the one you love most. It's impossible for posters to know what you as a family are like or the personality your child will have. We can't all be called the same run of the mill names! It's also very regional, if you're based in the SE it's fairly accepted to have an unusual name.
For me, I'd go with an unusual middle name, which is the name you wish to use on a daily basis, but also give him a standard first name. That way it gives him options as he gets older.

Absolutely welcome the criticism and opinions, that's what I asked for and its good to get a broad view. It does seem like some relish taking time to word their comments more than others, though.
After whittling down from six or so names I'm well and truly more confused than ever Confused

Really? Fox? A fox is a wild animal rodent one such shit ripped my bin bags apart because it smelt chicken. Do you really want that for your son? OK I'm joking but honestly your child will have to introduce themselves to people forever as either FOX or ARLO.
I wonder how many people actually put themselves in their children's shoes before they name them?!

My DS7 has an Arlo in his class so it's not new but is up and coming.

I knew a primary school teacher who had a Fox in her class and said it was a nightmare; the other boys were pronouncing it Fucks and then claiming they'd said Fox all along. Much sniggering.

These days "John or David" would be far more unusual OP.
I love the name Arlo, but it is a bit too popular now. Fox sounds ugly, and maybe a bit boring.

I know two Arlos born in the last 12 months, and another woman who says that that's the name she'll choose if has a boy. Seems very "on trend".

I like Fox, but only as a middle name. You could always give him a more "normal" first name, with Fox as a middle name, and then call him Fox. That gives him the option to easily transfer back to his first name if he decides he doesn't like or doesn't suit Fox.

I love Fox.
Ambivalent to Arlo - I know two of them, one is 5 and one is about 4, neither I can ever remember their name when meeting them. It's so bland.

Heard of the name Wolf but never Fox. How about Wolf? Becoming more popular where I live. However I don't really like either.
