Thoughts on Elliot Rose? I'm not sure what other people would think, thank you!

Are you in the UK or US? I think in the US it would be far more accepted and common. My sister lives in the States and the "gender neutral" or more masculine girl names is far more common. In my niece's year at school there are girls called Brynn, Ryann, Kenzie, Parker, Jude, Rowan, Darrel..and those are just the ones I can remember!

I know a girl called Elliotte (not sure of the exact spelling but I know it's not Elliot) and that seems a bit more feminine to me with the extra letters!

According to a baby name website I've just had a look at its only origin as a girls name is a TV show whereas the name for a boy is Hebrew in origin. I would worry naming a little girl after a fictional character who was purposefully given a boys name for comedy.

I like it; I admit I thought 'Rose for a boy's middle name?!' when I saw the thread title at first, but when I think about it I like it for a girl. I do like some boyish girl's names though, IMO they're a million times better than prissy girlie Milly Molly Maisie type names that are so popular. Elliot Rose is cool and there's always the El/Els/Ellie short options which are definitely 'female'.

No it's not. Elliot is a boys' name. I would assume that Elliot = first name, Rose = surname.

I taught a French girl called Elliot, she pronounced it more -otte rather than -ut.

First thought was of the vegetarian cook books by Rose Elliott (she had a famous one for mothers and babies).

But then thought about Elliott for a girl - and I like it.

Elliott from Scrubs has a boys name because her dad wanted a boy.
Leave off taking pretty boys names for girls- they have enough pretty names! (Yes I have a boy Elliott! Grin)

Thanks ravioli! I don't know much about Scrubs but I KNEW there was a reason "Elliot from Scrubs!" wasn't proof that it's a unisex name.

Elliot Rose is cool. I like gender neutral name. And the nickname El is even more gender neutral, and a sweet nickname. Go for it!

I agree with the majority. It is a boy's name for me and if I read that name written down I'd be expecting to see a boy with the surname of Rose.

But could you have Ellie? or another Elle/El type name? Rose is a lovely second name choice x

Boy's name. Plenty of nice girl's names beginning with 'Ell' so why would you do this to your child?

I've always loved Elliot for a girl, along with Ellis. Bit bored with Rose as a mn , seems to be the no brainer, no thought, ' go to' name at the moment,
