Girl shortlist - any other suggestions?

So the baby is probably a girl and we've been thinking about names. Here's our shortlist so far. We like all of them, my favourite is Vivienne at the moment. I'm wondering if anyone has any other names they think we might like too?

If you really hate one of these names if you can keep it to yourself I'd really appreciate it :) Any positives about them I'm happy to hear them in abundance!

Rosalind
Vivienne
Fleur
Dorothea
Josephine

I like fleur and Vivienne, you could also have vivianna?

Jooni · 20/08/2016 18:20

Dorothea is beautiful and has the best options for shortening IMO.

BabooshkaKate · 19/08/2016 19:18

Vivienne is the best of that list and not very common. Go for it!

MoonHare · 19/08/2016 19:16

I like Rosalind best from your list but Vivienne is growing on me.

EasternDailyStress · 19/08/2016 17:02

Juliet
Florence
Matilda
Marianne

Elllicam · 19/08/2016 16:50

I love Rosalind, it was on my shortlist too :)

Barefootcontessa84 · 19/08/2016 16:48

Another suggestion Mariana? (Pronounced -anna at the end)

Barefootcontessa84 · 19/08/2016 16:47

Love all except Fleur and Dorothea. I know you don't want negative comments but I feel I need to explain myself! Fleur just seems so weak compared to the other gorgeous names on your list - also I work with one who is in her 60's so perhaps my associations aren't the best, but the others just have so much more personality- I agree good middle name though!

I think Dorothea is just personal taste (and a bit of a mouthful - with shortening like 'Dotty' being a bit cutesy for me).

Love Vivienne and Rosalind, with Josephine not too far behind!

MamaLazarou · 19/08/2016 16:07

Melinda
Adeline
Adelaide

CakeRattleandRoll · 19/08/2016 00:59

Love Josephine and Vivienne.
How about Marissa?

daisydalrymple · 18/08/2016 22:18

[thread hijack, jemima I was on your thread earlier in the year, I hope things are well (not a stalker, honest, just remember your name!) ]

daisydalrymple · 18/08/2016 21:59

Love your shortlist. Fleur does stand out as different to the others though, simply being shorter / one syllable, but if you love it, I think it would make a great middle name with any of them.

Jemimapuddleduk · 18/08/2016 21:53

Love your list so far. Here are a few other suggestions
Rosamund
Rosanna
Margot
Constance
Juliet
Juliana

muddypuddled · 18/08/2016 21:52

My dd is Thea Madeleine. Thea is a shortened name from Dorothea, Anthea and Theodora. She is a Greek goddess of light. We love it because it's not too popular.

thatsn0tmyname · 18/08/2016 21:49

Marian/ Marianne?

RaeSkywalker · 18/08/2016 21:47

I like Rosalind.

Raines100 · 18/08/2016 21:40

Josephine, Rosalind and Vivienne are stunning names with beautiful shortenings.

Fleur sounds gorgeous in a French accent- and only a French accent, unfortunately. Dorothea has pretty shortenings but the whole name is not so nice.

Love Juliet, Adaline and Miranda.
What about Rosaline, Helena (Hel-ay-na), or Genevieve?

crayfish · 18/08/2016 21:14

I love your list! I had Josephine and Rosalind on mine, we also had Juliette, Monica and Eleanor.

Another vote against Fleur here, I just think of bleurgh when I hear it, sorry!

Josephine is the winner for me I think, I love Jo on a girl.

SteviebunsBottrittrundle · 18/08/2016 20:52

I love Josephine! I'd go with that - job done Grin.

I'm not keen on Fleur (sorry) and think you might have people mispronouncing it?

Lovely suggestions above. Especially like:

Margot
Theodora
Adeline
Rosalie

BagPusscatnip · 18/08/2016 16:15

I really like Josephine, Vivienne and Rosalind. I also agree that Juliet is a really pretty name. How about Adeline?

HandbagCrab · 18/08/2016 16:09

I perhaps wasn't clear about keeping negative opinions to yourself on my shortlist - horrendous indeed!

Thank you for suggestions so far I'll go through the ones that are new to me with dh later :)

Vivienne and Josephine are lovely.
How about Rosalie or Jacqueline.

ineedbanoffee · 18/08/2016 14:56

I absolutely love Vivienne. Love Vivi as a nickname. What about Gwendolen, Miranda, or Juliet? All those feel in a similar vein to your names :)

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 18/08/2016 14:50

I like Rosa, but Rosalind is very harsh.
I love Josephine,
Quite like Dorothy but not Dorothea.
Vivienne is gorgeous. vintage stylish elegant strong yet gentle
Fleur is absolutely horrendous

Other suggestions
Annabella
