Opinions on Lilah?

Not short for Delilah. Really grown on me but still curious of other people's opinions. Any nice middle names to go with it would also be helpful.Smile

I am not keen to be honest and the spelling looks awkward too. Knock of the h if you must.

I like Lilah, and I think it's the best spelling for the lye-lah pronunciation.

As for lay-lah, I thought the Arabic name was usually spelt Leila or Laila.

Layla/Laila is a traditional Arabic name and definitely a real name.

'Course it's a proper name. Layla, on the other hand sounds a bit stripper-y, at least spelt that way.

Sorry but sounds trashy to me. A bit like misty or missy type names for girls.

I was going to call my 10 year old DS Lila if he was a girl, it now turns out that there's one in his class along with Lily, Lacey and Laura. Still like it but called my 2 dds Anya & Layla! There are also lots of Laylas but only met 2 other Anyas.

Neither for or against but it's everywhere. Sorry - it's the hipster name of choice for girls. Can't move for hipster dads in a certain S. Manc suburb and their baby Lyla/Lila/ Layla/Layli

Friend called this spells it Lileah. She is in her 60s so popular then. Hadn't heard it for years but on the way back like Iris and Mabel. Be careful that it is not going to pop up everywhere all of a sudden like Lily did a while back.

I like it. I have a friend called Lilah. She was named after her very old family English grandmother so it's hardly an out there choice.

I'm not keen sorry. I don't know anyone called Lilah actually, but it does sound a bit 'blah' to my ear because I know at least two each (children and adults) of the following:

Lily, Lola, Layla, Lyra, Lara, Leah

I would imagine you'd be spelling it out forever. Lyla would be the more common spelling!

One of my good friends way back in the mists of time was called Lilah. She pronounced it lil-ah. It's a lovely name.
