DMIL is Cadence, so it's nice for that reason too.

I didn't imply it in the slightest. I don't see or think that working class people are like that, but if you do, that's your view.

My friend has a 9, (maybe 10?) yr old DS called Caden. She thought it was an unusual, Irish heritage choice. Wouldn't really talk to me about it when I was having mine and debating names, clearly she isn't happy with the popularity of it in recent years and as a lot of people have remarked above, the socio-economic connotations it has now.

I'm not a fan, I much prefer your spelling to the more usual Kaiden though.

Our primary is awash with Jayden/Kayden/Braydon etc, I think it will date horribly as a name & be the Gary of the future!

Plus as you can see here, some people do ascribe socio-economic status to a name....

People will make assumptions because as you've seen classism is a real issue with names. Caden type names are considered working class which obviously also means poorly behaved and badly parented Hmm
Having said that I don't like Caden just because it doesn't look like a finished name. It isn't a variant of cadence so that link is a bit tenuous.

I know a Kayden, a Cayden and a Caeden and they are all lovely boys from a variety of backgrounds. I think it's a great name.

There are worse names.

Its it as if you're spelling it Cayden and it has family significance.

You won't feel any love for it here but fwiw it wouldn't effect a raised eyebrow from me.

As you may have guessed it's not really a MN name, we have friends in Cornwall who name their ds Cadan as it is a Cornish name.

It won't get a very good reception on here, but that really doesn't matter. If you like the name go for it.

I like Cadence, but I don't like Caden, not least because if I heard it I might think it was Aiden and even if I heard correctly I wouldn't know how to spell it.

I read before that registers with the names 'Cayden, Hayden and Jayden' make teachers' hearts sink. Always the naughty boys, apparently.
