Names you hate!

First born is due in Dec (gender not known) and dh and I are pondering over names and he's suggested a few now that I absolutely hate - only because I know or knew somebody with that name and they were complete and utter shit heads!

They were every day names, nothing daft like Apple or Tiger Lilly but once associated with a past prize twat!! I go right off it!

Anyone else had this?

I hate a lot of very popular boys names.

Samuel, Daniel, George etc. aren't classics, they're dull.

Toby, Theo, Louis etc. are 'wet'

The only girls names I don't like are ones hyphenated with Mae/Leigh/Rae etc.

But then I like surnames as first names so what do I know. Smile

Victorian maids names, Molly, Matilda/Tilly, Eliza/Liza and the like. The ubiquitous Jacob/Jack and celtic themed names (of of context) Connor, Callum etc. Names that make you try hard not to judge, Jayden, Kayley etc.

The la-a and "female" story always appears on these threads, always posted by someone who claims to be a midwife/nurse who has met this child first hand.

Poor child must be sick a lot if she visits so many hospitals across the world. God knows how she managed to be born in so many different hospitals too.

My name has been mentioned Grin very American so very hated. Ooh and middle name is Leigh too! It's not hyphenated though, do I win points back for that?

The "middle aged" sounding names are out of fashion but will be back as "granny/grandad chic" in 20 years or so Grin

I am mean about names - in my head only and anonymously on here.

Top 10 names - just dull and tired of hearing them. Faddish. There are lots of nice names why do people all choose the same ones? Plus DDs friendship group all essentially have the same name which gets confusing.

Also with my feminist hat on I dont like soppy girls names - Honey, Poppy, Maisie. Not strong enough - your dd might become a judge or whatever and being called Poppy would be weird then surely?

Also unfairly dislike the name Beth. And have never met a nice Jacqui/Jackie so I shudder when I meet one. All evil.

No one has nmentioned Stuart/Stewart - how awfull being called Stew.
My name hasn't been mentioned -too old but not old enough to be back in fashion. I'm very happy with it.
I still love my son's name and it's not been mentioned on here.--so far anywaySmile

Ruth/Ruthie is just a horrible name, so ugly. I also hate Rowan, whether for a girl or a boy.

Old fashioned names are horrible like Martha, Archie, Ethel, Doris, Herbert etc I also irrationally hate Jessica, Duncan, Jennifer and any 'k' or 'j' new name Kai, Jayden, kaydan etc

The most normal names I really dislike are Michael, Vanessa, Veronica.

I quite like the old names revival but can't bear Arthur, Sidney or Stanley.

And as a pp like Tom but dislike Thomas.

Anything with -Lee/lea/Leigh tagged onto the end, male or female. Just horrible. I once met a family with 6 children and every name was something-lee

I remember XDP suggesting the name mark and me saying that you might as well call your child stain.
