Any thoughts or opinions? I don't know anyone with this name.

Aisling isn't pronounced ash-leen, it's ash-ling so would be much more like ash-lynne in sound. There would be confusion but if that doesn't bother you it's a nice name. Aisling prettier I think and is means dream which is lovely.

Aisling isn't pronounced the same as Ashlynn.

Ashlynn sounds like a failed country singer turned truck stop hooker.

Sophronia · 02/08/2016 10:50

It looks/sounds very American

Pigeonpost · 02/08/2016 10:36

Ashlynn sounds like a made up name. Or a name chosen by someone who didn't like the spelling of Aisling. So not, not for me personally.

It's lovely but probably will be seen as Irish. There are two Irish versions Aisling - pronounced Ashleen and Aislinn - pronounced Ashlynn

I love Aisling/Ashlynn but prefer the Irish spelling. Just because it was one of the first characters I loved: Aisling from Maeve Binchy's "Light a Penny Candle"

...with Alohamora here, I think people will imagine you meant Aisling, but wanted to go with a novelty spelling/pronunciation.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 02/08/2016 10:19

It keen. Prefer Ashley to the 'Lynne' bit.

ayeokthen · 02/08/2016 10:17

I have a friend who's daughter is called Ashlynn, spelled how you spell it. I think it's lovely.

dotdotdotmustdash · 02/08/2016 10:17

It's a pleasant name that nobody will have trouble pronouncing.

AnotherOddSock · 02/08/2016 10:15

That's Aisling, pronounced Ash-leen. I didn't want to give her an Irish name with an Irish spelling

The Irish name is Aisling and is really lovely.

Cassimin · 02/08/2016 10:14

I have heard of it. Think it is Irish and spelt differently.
It's lovely.
