Teddy: Theodore or Edward

DH and i both like Teddy as a nickname for our little one.

We both want it to be a longer name than just Teddy though. One of us prefers Edwards, and the other Theodore.

What do you think?

I know a Teddy whose BC name is Feodor.

I've got an 8 year old Teddy (he's an Edward) and we've only ever come across one other Teddy in real life.
I vote for Edward. Theodore sounds more American to me

My DS is Edward, yet to be shortened. I really liked Teddy as a nickname when i was pregnant, but i've heard it's really popular, which upsets me a bit. I personally haven't met many Teddies, but does anyone know if it really is getting far too popular?

Theodore. I find Edward dull.

SunglassesPink · 29/07/2016 23:42

There are sooooo many Theodores/Theos around at the moment. I would go with classic Edward.

Sophronia · 29/07/2016 21:41

Edward. You could also have Edmund, Edgar or Edwin.

I'd think about other nicknames for each name. Sometimes it's unavoidable that other people with use other NNs. My name is Rosanna and I go by Rose but so many people call me Rosie which I don't like.

Theodore - Theo
Edward - Ed, Eddie

Fair enough Waffle, but for us just Teddy doesn't work, gorgeous name though Grin

Theodore.

I find Edward very stuffy, for some reason.

WaffleOverload · 29/07/2016 16:10

Neither : )

I have a 10 year Teddy and he's just that. I wanted Teddy on the birth certificate as I don't like Edward or Theodore. I'd probably go Theodore at a push.

Mine is called both Teddy and Ted but thinks of himself as Teddy

CakeRattleandRoll · 29/07/2016 16:02

I have a Theodore Teddy. Usually Theo to everyone but always my teddy Pom Pom or teddy James.

RattieOfCatan · 29/07/2016 15:46

Theodore! But we're considering Edwin and using Teddy as a nn too.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 29/07/2016 15:42

Edward

Afreshstartplease · 29/07/2016 15:32
