Daughter still has no name!

DD1 was born on Sunday and still has no name. The more I concentrate on naming her the more confused and unsure I am! DH has decided I can have the final say, tbh I'm annoyed with him as if he'd discussed this sensibly whilst I was pregnant we'd have a name by now.

On the shortlist is:

Cecily
Kitty
Ianthe
Isadora
Theda
Saoirse (DH is Irish and DS also has an Irish name)

Which do people like the best? I'm not putting it to the MN vote but feel like I'm going around in circles and can't imagine her called any of these names! Not asking family for feedback, my mum is far too nosy and MIL actually sent a list of suggestions earlier on today! Thanks

Thanks for all your suggestions and help! Thinkpinkstink you have some lovely names on your list and we'd considered a few of those already. We've decided to name her Ianthe Cecily, it was going to be the other way around but I knew DH really didn't like Cecily and Ianthe has really grown on me in the last 24 hours. We are going to pronounce it eye- an- thee but an alternative pronunciation is ee- an-the , manicinsomniac

Of those I'd go for Saoirse, although you will be telling people how to say/spell it forever.

All the other names, bar Theda, are a bit Sloane Square for my liking Blush Confused (no offence). I had literally never come across those names on real people until I worked in Chelsea.

Theda is nice but I prefer Saoirse.

Saoirse - one of my best friends is a Saoirse and says that people have got a lot better at pronouncing it in the last few years.

I do love Kitty, as well.

How do you pronounce Ianthe? Is it Eye-an-thee? Yan-thee? An-thee?

I have a Xanthe so suspect I would like Ianthe best if I knew how to say it!

Also like Isadora and Cecily. Not keen on the others

I like them all! I think my favourites are Saoirse, Ianthe and Cecily.

I'm less keen on Theda, but that's probably just because I haven't heard it before. I like Isadora but would be worried she might end up one in a sea of Izzys.

As your DS has an Irish name I'd go for Saoirse.

Saoirse is gorgeous, as is the meaning. It's easy to say once you know so she wouldn't have to tell people more than once!

The others would sound rather odd with an Irish sibling name.

Thanks for all the replies. I do like Thea and it was on my list when I was pregnant with DS. It does seem to have become more popular in the the last few years. I like Xanthe too but don't want to add more names to the mix as DH did this this morning and my head can't cope. I will suggest it to him when he comes home though.

I was the same with my DS2. In the end we gave our DS1 the final say (out of 2 choices) Am still not 100% with our final choice to be honest although I couldn't imagine him being anything else now.
I like Kitty from your list but would register as Katherine so she can use the more formal name in the future if she wanted to. Lots of variations with Katherine too (Kate/Kathy/Kitty).

Midnight I've heard many different pronunciations of Saoirse, say horsey has never been one of them. It is a difficult one to pronounce though for a lot of people!
