As the title says...how would you spell this name please?
I know someone with it but don't like the spelling they use so an looking for an alternative...

The name, phonetically, is:

Eye-liss

Ilys would be pronounced "ccchliss" to me, with that guttural Welsh sound

Is it even a name?

AdamantEve · 26/07/2016 17:34

The person I know who has this name spells it Ilys.
I think looking at these written down, I prefer Ilyse. Although it would probably be mispronounced forever more.
Not pregnant currently, just thinking ahead in case I add to my brood and I really like this name, I had never heard it until recently

Ayliss. But Alice is nicer, imho.

Doilooklikeatourist · 26/07/2016 17:32

Eirlys

feckthemall · 26/07/2016 17:32

Tree bird if it was the Irish name Eilish the phonetic spelling would by eye lish?

DocMcFanjo · 26/07/2016 17:31

Eilish has a soft "shhh" at the end. If it were Irish I'd go Eilis but if not then Ilys or Eylis.

Luckystar1 · 26/07/2016 17:30

As with Treebird or Eilis. But I'd pronounce it aa-lish rather than eye-lish...

TreeBird16 · 26/07/2016 17:30

Or it can be spelled Eilís

longdiling · 26/07/2016 17:30

Eirlys. That's a Welsh name

Ellis?

Coatgate · 26/07/2016 17:27

Eyelissâ„¢ helps prevent and fight bags under eyes. It is a combination of 3 active molecules: hesperidin methyl chalcone that decreases the capillary permeability, dipeptide VW that increases lymphatic circulation and lipopeptide Pal-GQPR that improves firmness and elasticity and decreases inflammatory phenomena

No idea how you would spell it any other way.

Pengweng · 26/07/2016 17:27

Ilys too
