Girls shortlist 3 weeks and nameless

leeds84 · 17/07/2016 15:45

We have a 3 week old little girl. She's had a bit of a rocky start but is hopefully on the mend now. However she's still nameless and need help!

Shortlist is as follows

Cecilia /Celie
Eleanor
Iris
Willow (I know this is marmite but am very drawn to it especially because the tree is believed to have magical powers - bit ridiculous, but this touched a nerve after her rough start.)

I love iris followed by Eleanor. I hate willow I'm afraid. It makes me think of buffy and I hated that character. I don't suppose that's a problem though as the show hasn't been on for years!

forkhandles4candles · 19/07/2016 17:02

Willow is so lovely. Next Cecilia - sounds beautiful. Other two are a bit wishy washy for me.

DarkBlueEyes · 19/07/2016 16:59

Willow is divine, though I also like Iris. Willow Iris?

I think you should have Willow as the name as you are so strongly drawn to it, and your baby is a little miracle and has healed herself.

yaaasqueen · 19/07/2016 16:57

Willow Cecilia

or Celia Willow and call her Celie or Seals for nick name !

Izzyathome · 19/07/2016 07:31

My favs are 1. Iris (love it and on my short list) and 2. Celie (also love it, brilliant nickname that has never occurred to me and reminds me of The Color Purple).
I'm not a fan of Eleanor, I think I just know too many older ones and Ellie is just way too vanilla for me.
Willow does seem to mean the most to you, which is important. It's nice but, meaning aside, not as great as 1 & 2!

TinklyLittleLaugh · 18/07/2016 20:29

I like them all, you have great taste OP.

For a tree name I like Rowan. Rowans are supposed to protect you from evil.

marblestatue · 18/07/2016 20:24

Willow Cecilia

Sophronia · 18/07/2016 11:53

I love Cecilia and Celia. Willow is great too though.

leeds84 · 18/07/2016 10:28

Thanks everyone! Much less opposition to Willow than I'd thought there might be.

I think we're going to go with it.

Absolutely love Willow!

daisydalrymple · 17/07/2016 19:49

I think Willow Eleanor sounds beautiful. Elegant, different, but not too out there. Just googled and Eleanor apparently means shining light or bright one, which seems to go really well with your reasons for choosing Willow too.

Very best wishes to you all and your baby dd. Do let us know what you choose!

Swearwolf · 17/07/2016 19:43

I love Cecilia!! I really wanted it for dd but wasn't allowed. I think any of them but Eleanor really, she would be one of a great many Ellies which would be a shame when the other three are so lovely.

SteviebunsBottrittrundle · 17/07/2016 19:39

Willow is lovely and I really like the whole magic powers meaning too. Congratulations btw! Flowers

WellErrr · 17/07/2016 19:34

I like Cecilia.

I'm due soon and have almost decided on Cassia (Cassie) which fits in with your list? It's a flower name and very unusual.

CPtart · 17/07/2016 19:32

Eleanor (although it's very popular), in its entirety. No nicknames.
Don't like your other names, sorry.

Elephants25 · 17/07/2016 19:26

Willow is my favourite; then Eleanor.

septembersunshine · 17/07/2016 19:11

We have an Eleanor Charlotte (known as Ella). You can also have Nell/Ellie etc... So I'm a bit biased but all your names are really lovely. I would go for Eleanor Willow or Iris Eleanor... actually I would be hard pressed to decide. You seem really drawn to Willow!

Pinklily1 · 17/07/2016 18:42

They are all lovely. Personally, I don't like Eleanor as much as the others as a first name, but would definitely use it as a middle name.

If Willow has special meaning for you, I say go with that. Willow Iris sounds lovely.

Hurricane99 · 17/07/2016 18:24

Celia nn Ceci is cute

shaggedthruahedgebackwards · 17/07/2016 16:16

Eleanor or Willow would be my choice but they are all lovely names

If your heart says Willow then go with that!

Rowanhart · 17/07/2016 16:15

Iris Willow is beautiful.

As is Willow Iris.

cosmicglittergirl · 17/07/2016 16:14

Willow. I don't think it's that marmite. I think a lot of people will like it.

regularbutpanickingabit · 17/07/2016 16:12

Willow sounds perfect for her. Glad she is recovering.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 17/07/2016 16:04

Willow Cecile would be gorgeous

RaeSkywalker · 17/07/2016 16:04

Eleanor or Iris.
