What is the boy's name "Hal" short for?

I name my DS2 Henry, with Hal as a nickname. So far, Henry has suited him, but i might pull out Hal later when I'm feeling either Shakespearian or Kubickian.

I know a Hallam who is called Hal for short. I had never come across it before him.

Henry, as in Shakespeare, Henry IV, 1 & 2. Prince Hal was a referred to several times by Falstaff.

Or HAL, the evil computer in 2001 ASO. Middle name should be Dave
