It's the first cut of the shortlist for DC2, no H names as will have H surname. Any new suggestions welcome (particularly for boys, I'm really struggling):

Girls-
Lois
Elena
Esther
Claudia
Zara
Sylvie
Freya
Matilda
Flora
Imogen
Alexa
Margot

Boys-
Marcus
Laurence
Struan
Elliott
Jude
Blair
Innes

Thank you so much for your help!!

I love Sylvie! Also like Matilda.
Boys I like Elliot and Jude.

Angelsandmagnets · 02/07/2016 20:43

Claudia and Esther are lovely for a girl (Esther shortened to 'Etty')

Innes is a nice name for a boy 😀

Madbengalmum · 02/07/2016 20:39

Really dont like Jude, everybody around us seems to be calling their son that recently.
Loving Flora.

We live just outside of Edinburgh if that helps, DP is English though

I don't know where you live now, but where l am - Freya is amazingly popular.
That might not be a concern for you. :)
I like Sylvie & Blair.

KoalaDownUnder · 02/07/2016 16:33

I love Elena! It's so elegant and timeless. Also love Esther and Imogen.

Innes is cool.

carmelsundae · 02/07/2016 12:45

Im in Cornwall, I think it's of local origin.
We're pretty far away from one another!

gininteacupsandleavesonthelawn · 01/07/2016 15:37

That's interesting Thursday - I've never heard of Truan

OP posts:
ThursdayLastWeek · 01/07/2016 15:28

Ive heard of Truan, but not Struan. Sounds a bit off to me, maybe because of that.

I only really like Elliott from your boys list.
Ester, Sylvie and Margot from the girls.

EasternDailyStress · 01/07/2016 15:28

My favourites of the girls' names are Claudia and Matilda. Only like one of the boys' names, Laurence.

PS You have to be a bit careful with Claudia, as it can be pronounced a bit like "clawed ya", so if you have Balls or similar as a surname I'd give it a miss if I were you.

1horatio · 01/07/2016 15:26

Flora makes me think of Flora MacDonald and the Roman Goddess:)
I would love to use Flora for DD, but unfortunately can't. Plus DD will get DH's name (which is a name thats very obviously originally Scottish), so....

Struan is nice. I personlly prefer Blair, but Struan is lovely!

MadameJosephine · 01/07/2016 15:00

My favourites are Claudia and Elliot

Shesinfashion · 01/07/2016 14:58

Flora just makes me think of tasteless margarine.

Shesinfashion · 01/07/2016 14:57

Lois or Imogen. Elliot or Jude.

gininteacupsandleavesonthelawn · 01/07/2016 14:55

Yes I'm Scottish
