Any of them except for iris, although I do like that name. Like another poster implied it's almost a toungue tie saying Hamish and Iris.

We have three Nan/Nancys in the extended family: Two Mary-Anns and one a Mary-Jane, so I'd linked it to the Mary...possibly not!

I have a close older relative who is a Nancy, I discovered a couple of years ago that she is actually named Agnes. I had no idea.

If we chose Nancy it would be after my grandma whose full name was Agnes, so nothing to do with Mary. ?
Kirsty is a definite no. I do like Hamish and Flora though, thanks Derelict!

Nancy is a diminutive of Anne I think, it doesn't have anything to do with Mary as far as I am aware.

I like Kirsty too.

Eilidhs (and Ellies etc) are ten a penny round me so I think like a lot of names they can be very regional. I know they are pronounced differently by the way but depending on the accent it isn't enough to differentiate imo.

Nancy is a diminutive of Mary though. Which may not fit with your family.

Eilidh is lovely and not overused at the moment.
Kirsty if you don't like Kerstin above.
Morag sounds great with Hamish but is perhaps too much of a statement...or perhaps not?

bombayflambe, my name is Catriona (circa early 80's) and my mother's friends are Fionas. Erin is nice though, although we know a few toddler Erins already.
