We have only three weeks left until we have our first little girl. We decided on the first name quite early but have struggled to decide on a middle name that we love. Our shortlist is:

Eva Lily
Eva Grace
Eva Belle
Eva Mae

Which name do you prefer? All thoughts, both positive and negative are very welcome!

Thanks xx

I prefer Eva Grace. It's lovely.

Lovinglife2016 · 07/06/2016 09:31

The popularity of Mae as a middle name does put me of it, it's really hubby who loves that one. I know a few Ellie Mae's which puts me off as it is used frequently for double barrelled names as well as middle names. It's difficult as I know how popular Grace is from the stats, but I have only come across one in my niece's class at school. But I know there are a lot out there lol and there is a possibility that other children will have the same combo 😕

Septembersunshine I really like some of your names, a few have already been used by friends and family but Sophia, Charlotte and Isabella were all on my list.

I love Eva, doesn't bother me that it's popular (and I've actually only ever met one under five in any case!). I like Eva Lily or Eva Grace. Grace, May/Mae and Rose are the middle names de jour at the moment if that bothers you. I like May as a name in its own right (my grandmother's name) but really dislike the spelling Mae, it seems made up. I don't like Belle.

LucyBabs · 07/06/2016 02:20

Where did the Mae come from it seems to be everyones go to recently.
My dds middle name is May after my Nana, hate that it's seen as a fashion thing..

Anyway sorry loving Eva is a great name I think Eva Grace is lovely

nooka · 07/06/2016 02:11

The risk of pairing up a popular first name with such popular middle names is that she might end up sharing her full name with other little girls, which personally I'd be a bit sad about. It's nice to feel unique :)

septembersunshine · 06/06/2016 15:06

I love Eva but I would love to see a different middle name. Eva Grace would be my choice from your list but I think Eva could do with a longer second name just to give it a little something more.

Eva Annabel
Eva Sophia
Eva Cassia
Eva Eleanor
Eva Charlotte
Eva Beatrice
Eva Molly
Eva Isabella
Eva Poppy
Eva Iris

ElodieS · 06/06/2016 13:56

I love Leonore Artandco! We're considering it for DC3 if its a girl. I like Rae as well, and with Eva it's a nice alternative to Mae.

Eva Grace!

FlyDragonfly1 · 06/06/2016 13:06

I think Eva Lily is lovely.

I know two little girls named Eva; one is Eva Sienna, the other is Eva Florence. Both lovely names too.

LadyAntonella · 06/06/2016 11:32

If you don't love any then just don't have a middle name. Personally I think that's a lot better than a 'filler' name. Or do you have a family member or friend or even a midwife or someone whose name you'd like to use? My friend used the name of the MW who delivered her DD as a middle name. I thought that was lovely.

Lovinglife2016 · 06/06/2016 10:45

I hadn't thought about the L sound after Eva!! It does not sound good so I think Lily may be off the list lol!

Thank you for all the lovely suggestions, I am still struggling to find one that I love yet 😕

Excited101 · 05/06/2016 23:46

Eva Rose

pieceofpurplesky · 05/06/2016 23:45

Eva Jayne
Eva Beth
Eva Ruth
My favourite of yours is Eva Grace

LadyAntonella · 05/06/2016 22:49

Oh yeah I hadn't thought of that but Eva Lily could sound a little bit like Evil Lily.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 05/06/2016 22:27

Eva Grace. Any names beginning with L after Eva could sound like Ev-al. (Evil).
Or perhaps I over think things.

MouldyPeach · 05/06/2016 22:27

Pidlan's suggestion of Eva June is beautiful, especially as she is very likely to be born in the month. And if she's super late, Eva July works too!

Pidlan · 05/06/2016 22:24

Eva June Smile

LadyAntonella · 05/06/2016 22:23

Seren means star in Welsh which I think is a lovely meaning.

Artandco · 05/06/2016 22:20

How are you pronouncing Eva? 'Eve-ah' or 'ay-va'?

Personally I think Ava is a slightly nicer name

The middle names are very overused

Eva Estelle
Eva leonore
Eva Quinn
Eva Liliana
Eva Lilian

Howaboutthisone · 05/06/2016 22:19

Some names are popular simply because they are really nice names!

Howaboutthisone · 05/06/2016 22:18

Eva Grace is my favourite there.
