Combined list of mine and DH's favourite girl names

Hi there, pregnant with DC3 (fingers crossed - am only 8+3). Have 2 DDs and between their first and middle names we've run out of everything we love/can agree on. If it's a girl this time we're stuck!

Here's the list of names that either I like or DH likes. There are only two that we both like, but in each case one of us is still a bit 'meh' about it. All the other names are either my names but DH doesn't like them, or his but I don't. What do you think?

Rose
Naomi
Tess
Felicity
Imogen
Harriet

Any other ideas? Any opinions?

Naomi Rose (although bear in mind that Rose as a middle name is the Louise of this generation) or Rose Felicity (lovely) for me. Rose Abigail doesn't scan IMO. Naomi Vivienne is quite cool but not keen on Vivienne.

Thanks everybody!

I have nothing against Emily sultana and I see why people would think it goes with our other names, but it feels a bit plain to me (don't mean to be offensive to all the other lovely Emilies out there who aren't plain in the slightest - I just think with our other two first names it makes the whole lot seem a bit uninventive in a way).

Have considered Florence but it's in the same (very lovely but not for me) camp of Harriet and Felicity for me. It's a category of names (in my head) that I like, but not quite enough.

Philippa, Verity, Rowena all feel much posher than Felicity to me! And much posher than our other names.

Totally know what you mean about the vowels. That's accidental/coincidental/weird though rather than a deliberate strategy (although I have thought we might have to go with another 'e' middle name now the other two have one!).

I think my favourite options are now:

Rose Abigail (because Abigail means 'bringer of joy' or 'father's joy')
Naomi Rose
Naomi Vivienne
Rose Felicity

Will take these to DH! He practically picked DD2's name so I reckon I get the swaying vote this time Grin

I like these:

Tabitha
Vivienne

OneMagnumisneverenough · 25/05/2016 21:06

All your current names begin with a vowel but the only one on your list that does is Imogen. I'm not an Imogen fan though.

Other vowel names in a similar style

Anna
Evelyn
Esme
Emilia
Amelie
Olivia

Howaboutthisone · 25/05/2016 21:05

Naomi gets my vote!

Potcallingkettle · 25/05/2016 21:03

Naomi has more of a unique sound then the others but still normal. I only know one. She is at uni now and absolutely lovely.

Have you considered:
Florence
Philippa
Rowena
Verity

Surf25 · 25/05/2016 21:02

Our dc3 if they had been dd3 they would have been Naomi. Love it for all the dame reasons as your dh. But it was a boy! Now considering again if dc4 turns out to be dd3! I do also like Rose and Rosie. Naomi Rose is beautiful.

Sultanashirls · 25/05/2016 20:58

What about Emily?

swancourt · 25/05/2016 20:53

Love Vivienne and would consider for a middle name. Not quite brave enough to go there for a first name. Not averse to Nancy but don't think I'd choose it.

The I Moan thing Grin - er, doesn't bother me.

Yes, my children are Alice and Isobel (argh - going to be outed, although they're not exactly the least common names in the world)
Middle names are Eleanor and Edith (totally outing self now)

I love Rose, as it is, on its own.

daisydalrymple · 25/05/2016 19:13

Other names that spring to mind based on your list:
Nancy
Flora
Faith
Tesni

Are you willng to share your dds' names with us so we can have more of an idea of your preferences? (You could jumble up the order?)

juggles6 · 25/05/2016 18:50

Not Noami, as its I moan, but the rest are lovely

Biscuitsneeded · 25/05/2016 18:02

Rose - nice name but too many of them
Naomi - interesting. Elegant rather than cutesie.
Tess - OK, nothing special
Felicity - too posh for me
Imogen - I don't like this name for some reason even though the rest of the world does!
Harriet - on the posh end of the scale but I like
the Jane Austen-ness of it

How about:
Susanna
Vivienne
Louisa
Juliet
Eleanor
Katherine

Buggers · 25/05/2016 17:57

Love the name naomi but violet is my favourite

Fingermoose · 25/05/2016 17:53

Love Naomi, Rose and Tess - they were all on my list. Also Hazel, Fiona and Clara.

EllenDegenerate · 25/05/2016 17:28

Oh you should use Rose.

It's beautiful in its simplicity and rare as a given name.

I'm not keen on the other names and totally agree with you about Harriet Wink

wigglesrock · 25/05/2016 15:04

Tess by a country mile Grin, I know it's not a goer for you. I really loved it for our dd3 but my husband just doesn't like it. The book ruined it for him and he doesn't like the sound of it.

I really like Gabrielle, as a later suggestion. From your original list I think the next best is Imogen even with an Isobel as a sibling. You'll have 3 dds so it's not like you need to say Isobel and Imogen together if you're worried about that.

Rose - I know 2 children ( an 8 year old and a baby) called Rose. For me it just doesn't lend itself well to a child's name. It's a bit blah. I find Naomi a bit dated. Felicity a bit insubstantial, I like Violet and Harriet I don't like.

MessyBun247 · 25/05/2016 14:54

Naomi and Rose are lovely!

Convoysandwich · 25/05/2016 14:52

Felicity is the one I'm least keen on - a bit "posh" sounding to me.

Rose is lovely for all the reasons you stated.

Schmoochypoos · 25/05/2016 14:47

I love Felicity - I know a little Felicity nn Fizzy. And i agree with you that Rose is lovely in its own right and not often used as a first name.

Naomi, Tess, Imogen I'm not keen on.

I like Hatty as a nickname for Harriet.

Ilovewillow · 25/05/2016 14:40

Love Imogen and Harriet (they were on my list for both children)! I love Violet too!

NapQueen · 25/05/2016 14:37

Tess not Test. Same auto correct.

What about Zoe/Zoey?

NapQueen · 25/05/2016 14:35

Rose, Harriet and Test are all the nicer ones. I've skipped past all comments so I don't get influenced haha.

I really don't like Imogen but everyone else seems to like it at the moment.

Felicity; Naomi and Violet I'm not too fussed on.

figginz · 25/05/2016 14:34

I like Rose!

What about Naomi Rose as a compromise?

LadyAntonella · 25/05/2016 14:29

Oh and I agree with you re Tess of the D'urbervilles! I really hated that novel and bloody Angel what's-his-face acting like she had died when he discovered she wasn't a virgin. Ffs. I read it 'for fun' when I was 18, (I also read James Joyce in a nightclub to make a point - what an insufferable twat I was), and nearly threw it across the room when I got to that part.
