Winter or Darcey?

Ok so we are team yellow and have decided on our boys names, it's just two girls names we need help on with. After rejecting a few and going back and fourth we are left with these.

Winter Belle

mummytomartha · 23/05/2016 20:12

Darcey is beautiful x

purplepaisley · 23/05/2016 10:23

Winter - never thought of it as a name before, but I like it! Darcy is more common and will date. I wouldn't worry about Winnie - if you don't use it it's unlikely others will. Short forms / nicknames are completely unpredictable, and I know quite a few children who's names are never shortened.

SerenityReynolds · 23/05/2016 09:18

I assume you are actually due in the Winter? I'm not particularly a fan of the name, but it would definitely only work if she was born late Nov - Feb!

Neither are really to my taste, but Darcey edges it slightly.

SeemsLegit · 23/05/2016 09:14

Darcey is overused and slightly boring. Winter isn't much better...it's not a particularly nice sounding word

HouseOfBiscuits · 23/05/2016 09:05

Darcy (without an e).

PiledUpPenguins · 23/05/2016 07:13

Darcey is like Tracey was in the 80s: I would not touch it with a barge pole.

Winter will be known as Winnie so if you don't like Winnie then I would avoid.

AugustaFinkNottle · 22/05/2016 21:58

I would feel sorry for Winter should she ever have to study Richard III at school. "Now is the winter of our discontent ..."

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 22/05/2016 21:54

Winter is über try-hard but at the same time seems ove popular right now and Darcey is both the name of a local shop and Dawn Ward off Cheshire Housewives daughter, which may possibly be offputting.

If pushed I think I'd go for Darcey.

nectarini1983 · 22/05/2016 21:39

Really love Winter - definitely no nickname required. I seem to be in the minority but i can't understand the obsession with shortening names ...especially in this case when it's swooping one 2 syllable name for a 2 syllable nn!

Not keen on Darcey - as ppS have said, vanilla and v v popular.

BoboBunnyH0p · 22/05/2016 08:29

I like them both, but would choose Winter as its more unusual. However some may think it's linked to GOT because in previous seasons they often said Winter is coming, I'm sure they are probably referring to the season but it could be a person, you just never know with GOT.

Paddingtonthebear · 22/05/2016 07:34

Darcey is way more popular than you think

TheRollingCrone · 21/05/2016 22:54

Wincy? Grin

lolalament · 21/05/2016 22:47

I hope you have a boy. They're both terrible.

rosareina · 21/05/2016 21:46

I prefer Winter.

marmitecrumpets · 21/05/2016 21:39

Darcy

Violethenry · 21/05/2016 21:30

November!

Not sure about the nn Winnie people are suggesting, might get winnie the poo?

When are you due OP? A Winter born in June /July /August is a bit weird.

Darcy is nice Smile

Ilovenannyplum · 21/05/2016 21:18

Darcy without the e Smile

StarkyTheDirewolf · 21/05/2016 21:12

I love Winter, it's on our list. It's a divider, bit of a marmite name from what I can gather.

AugustaFinkNottle · 21/05/2016 00:04

Winnie is awful, Winter makes me think of rain, slush, fog, mud and misery.

CalleighDoodle · 20/05/2016 23:55

Darcy. Winter is a little out there and if she is due any timenother than winter it IS plain wrong

Nham123 · 20/05/2016 23:51

Love Winter with nn Winnie!

RitaOra2 · 20/05/2016 22:35

They are both lovely. I would probably go with Winter, but only because I think Darcey has become more popular recently and she probably won't be the only one in the class at school!

FunnysInLaJardin · 20/05/2016 22:32

In Jersey Winter is a very popular name among old local men, so not sure at all for a baby girl!
