At this rate I will be registering 'blank' at the birth (than using the year to name the baby. Not ideal really and who's to tell I find on then..

Here's the challenge...

I am looking for a girl's name

  • one or 2 syllables
  • a warm open sound
  • Feminine although not silly strong rounded name
  • Could have a naturalistic element
  • Could be uncommon
  • From anywhere around the world
  • Could be unisex

If you can help me find that name...I will endevour to send you a voucher for drink or small pressie....and loads of thanks and cyber hugs. I have been looking for 8 mths and no I'm not fussy , honest. Bye mumsnetters, although I'm not expecting miricles, you have been pretty awesome on my journey, so I think this is worth a shot. The OP did say she was looking for names of one or two syllables.

HelloSmile

I'm quite a big fan of girls names that end in an 'a' as I think they sound quite feminine.

I like -

Arianna
Melissa
Amelia
Evanna
Isla
Orlagh
Isabella

I do quite like Poppy and Lily too Smile

I hope you find one you like! Xxx

I just remembered Merle (sounds like Pearl with an 'M')

There was a beautiful actress called Merle Oberon:

What's odd is that I was going to suggest Estelle and when I looked up Merle Oberon I found out her name was Estelle Merle, though she went by Merle ... She was an actress in the 1930s-early 70's, I think, and played opposite Laurence Olivier in Wuthering Heights in 1939.

I'm pretty sure Merle is French for blackbird.

I think it's pretty, has a nature feel about it due to its meaning...only if only you know Smile and is only one syllable. Estelle is lovely too. It is also French, having its roots in Latin: stella means star.

I recently read a blog where the writer mentioned her DD Juniper.
My first reaction was Confused but then I really began to like it.
It's unusual but not WTF

CatInTheVat · 04/05/2016 21:00

Olive.

It meets all your criteria: it's warm, it's round (starts with a round letter and describes a round fruit!), it's related to nature, it's not too common.
